BFP! Do I really have to bother seeing my GP?

Got my BFP, hooray. All going well will be DC2. DD1 is 13 mo.

Should I really be in a hurry to see a doctor? Last time they didn't actually do anything and said very little. I have no history of complications, although BMI is 29 Blush

Is a GP appointment compulsory? Or can you just ring the durgery and ask to be put on the midwife's list again?

If you do think it's a must, when is best to go? I'm only 4.5 weeks, period a few days late

At my GP surgery you just ring and get the phone number for the MW off the receptionist and then call the MW yourself to organise first appointment. The MW does a group session once a week where she runs through tests, choices, what to eat/not eat, etc and hands out hospital notes for everyone to fill in before the 10w appointment.

I'd ring the doctors and just ask to be put on the list.

Oh good! Thanks.

Will my previous maternity notes magically appear in the MW's care?!

Hi congratulations, my suregery require GP to confirm pregnancy before seeing mw. Give surgery a ring and ask them what the procedure is as it does vary.

My notes all remained at the hospital where I gave birth.

I have moved house (not far) and will be using a different hospital from last time (same GP throughout)... do you think they will manage to retrieve my notes?!

I was able to do everything online this time (DC3) - a hint of the 21st century! I just looked on my surgery's website and there was an online self-referral for pregnancy, dead simple.

I had also moved house from last time (though same hospital) and they didn't originally link up my notes as stupidly this time I used a shortened version of my christian name - it was quickly sorted out though.

And congratulations Grin
