Where did you feel your baby kick at around 25/26 weeks?

Hi, I'm just wondering where everyone is feeling their baby kick. I'm a bit worried because I still only feel kicks in my lower abdomen and just level with my belly button. I've read somewhere that I should be feeling kicks near my ribs now, but they are no where near my ribs. I can't remember where I was feeling kicks at this stage with DD. I am 26 weeks tomorrow.

Another thing - I had only put on around 500g weight between weeks 14 and 23. My 20 week scan showed that my baby was measuring right on target. At my 23 week MW appointment, she said the uterus was measuring fine, although she didn't use a measuring tape.

I am a bit worried that my uterus is growing but my baby isn't...Could anyone provide any reassurance? Advice?

Sorry, I am going to post and run, but I will be reading tonight. Thanks everyone in advance.

It depends where your baby's feet are - and where your placenta is! My first baby was head down, so he kicked me in the ribs. My second was breech so she booted me in the bladder. With this one, my placenta is high up at the front of my womb which means I don't feel any high up kicks - I'm a couple of weeks behind you, though.

Measure yourself from your pubic bone - the hard bone under your pubes to the top of your uterus - you can feel it if you lie back and poke. It should be just above your belly button. If you're growing according to weeks, your baby should be growing too.

But ultimately, if you're worried call your midwife and they'll check you out and reassure you. They really really don't mind - they'd rather be reassuring you than you be worried.

I'm 26 weeks and most of the movement I feel is low down, I wasn't worried about it till I read this thread! She was head down with her head wedged in at the exit at the scan and it feels like she's still there!

I think don't worry about where you feel the kicks, just worry if the pattern/frequency of movement changes. Learn what's normal for your baby, and be aware of its movements.

I've only felt low kicks, and stretching against my ribs. Quite cute as whenever I have loud music on he pushes his head hard against my side at the top to hear Grin

I know he's breech and am a bit worried he won't turn as I have a 'amniotic sheet' ie a barrier preventing him from accessing a section at the top corner of my uterus. This means he has less room than he should do. I'm just hoping his growth isn't affected.

Sorry for long ramble!

i am 26 weeks too (i think, at my 20 week scan was told i was actually a week further on than thought but didn't mention changing my due date not that it really matters anyway as bubs will arrive when they want i.e during a snow storm or on new years eve!)

I have just started to feel kicks near my ribs but think that it might be that baby has assumed the head down position according the midwife and am getting loads of wierd movements really low down that i suppose would be hands! i wouldn't worry too much about where the kicks are just that you are getting regular ones as baby can still move around a lot.

Also for the measurement thing this is the first time a midwife has been anywhere near me with a tape measure and its baby number 3 so don't stress too much about that either.

Relax and enjoy it!

I'm a wee bit further along, and most of my kicks, stretches, etc, are in the lower half. Get the odd feeling up higher, but mostly it's on a level with or below the belly button, with some impressively large stomps that seem to travel/echo (can't think of a better term) along my urethra.

Seeing as my ribs have disappeared behind the bump though, it's hard to tell! But as long as the baby's kicking normally, you're fine- there's so many different reason why you will feel more movements in some areas than others.

Thanks for the replies. It's good to hear that others aren't feel kicks high up either.

phlossie The point you made about where the placenta is, has reassured me alot. I was actually told that my placenta is high up on the upside of the uterus, so maybe kicks at the top are being cushioned by the placenta? When I get braxton hicks I can feel my uterus about 3 inches up from my belly button, which is think is normal.

I am getting very regular movements too, so hopefully everything is okay.
I am meeting my MW in 2 weeks, hopefully she will be able to reassure me further.

Thanks everyone!

Oh yes that's true. I forgot about that. My placenta is right at the top under my ribs too.

I am now 26 weeks pregnant, I am bit scared why my baby is kicking both left and right side of my uterus. Previously it was kicking only on my right side.
Can anyone let me know? Thanks in advance

I’m 27+2, had a scan last week at 26+3 and baby was head down.

Have felt the odd kick slightly above my belly button but still feeling most movement below or just under.
