Has anyone fainted or been sick in a shop?

21 weeks pregnant. I've just come home from a short trip to the shops. Was queuing in M&S when I suddenly felt so sick and dizzy. I really really thought I was either going to faint or be sick right there in front of everyone. I managed to hold on, leave the shop and sit down outside to have a drink but dear me.....how embarrassing. It was really soooo close. I didn't know what to do. If I should ask for help or just sit down on the floor where I was.

Has this happened to anyone? What did you do? And how did people react????

Happened to me once, nearly fainted, luckily in a maternity shop so the staff were used to it, got me a chair and a drink of water. It's very common to feel dizzy when pregnant and I wouldn't feel embarrassed by it.

Don't be afraid to ask for help if it happens again.

I've got low blood pressure even when not pregnant and am prone to fainting anyway.

yep. in the petfood aisle in tesco Blush

the staff were lovely and helped me to a chair but I was initially surrounded by a load of mouth-breathing customers just looking at me like I'd just sprouted an extra limb.

Yup, fainted in the hairdressers at 9 weeks (ish). Right in the middle of a cut. Was I embarrassed then? Yep. Would I be embarrased now? Hell no! 2 kids later and Ive toughened up Grin

It must be something about m&s...I fainted in m&s coffee shop at 14wks pregnant with this baby (currently 37wks). The staff & customers were fab, sorted out my 2 other kids, sat me down & force fed me ice cold water. It was still v embarrassing tho!! I too have low blood pressure, I now carry a full bottle of ice cold water every where, it really does help. Are you in the uk? If so I expect its partly to do with current heat wave. Just drink masses & take it easy!

Yes, on a train a few times- eventually had to get signed off for a week! And once in a plane. Probably low blood pressure, thoughine isn't that low, but all other tests were clear. Embarrassing at the time but people were surprisingly helpful. Didn't happen in my second pregnancy.

No, but I threw up in a canal last night, and narrowly missed a swan, who looked incredibly pissed off. That was after a day of interviewing candidates for a post we're filling, and heroically keeping it in...

I knew I was pregnant when the day my period was due I went from enjoying my harvester meal out to sprinting to the loo & spending 15 minutes throwing up Blush when I returned my bf asked, really loudly, if I had been having a poo as I had been gone a long time Angry I was sad I hadn't just piled on him. The tube journey home was a nightmare as every wobble made me heave Sad

I've fainted twice: once with ds1 and once with ds2. On my own in the middle of town both times..... Very embarassing, especially when they call an ambulance who then insist you go to hospital.

Was very glad to avoid that with dd and this one!

I fainted in a pub when 4mo pregnant. Bit dramatic - flailing limbs and all. DH carried me out and everyone apparently stared as my eyes were rolling in my head. I then had to confess to everyone I was out with that I was pregnant (I wasn't showing and for various reasons hadn't wanted to announce it yet) as I was pretty slender at the time and two people took my husband aside to ask if I had stopped eating due to an eating disorder. So I had to confess to being pregnant, at which point everyone said that was their second guess after the eating disorder. Oh. Clearly I just have very nosy friends.

I went for a dental check up when I was PG with DS1. I was waiting in a hot waiting room and started to feel a bit yucky. I thought I would get up and go outside to get some fresh air - then woke up on the floor with a nice little crowd peering over me. The worse thing was that I'd done a little 'accident' whilst unconcious Blush

Sainsbury's for me, in different towns & cities no less (different pregnancies). Not sick, just very very close to fainting. Sat on the floor to actually avoid it (and got no attention for that whatsoever Confused). Not really a problem in other supermarkets, either, just Sainsbo's!!

Puking and spitting into a few front garden hedges in my time, too Blush

Boots for me. I knew I was going to go so parked myself down on the floor. Initially people were looking at me obviously thinking 'WTF?' but a kindly staff member gave me a glass of water and accompanied me back to work (in the building next door). I developed chickenpox a couple of days later. I was 26 weeks pg.

Pregnancy aside I was sick on the steps of the opticians next door to my favourite curry house. Apparently Champagne and lamb balti do not mix. Who knew?

Multiple times, sometimes in more than once in the same shop. I had severe sickness - easily vomiting 10-15 times a day, with no warning, although I felt like shit constantly! Sometimes I managed to make it to the loo, or in a bag I had with me, but sometimes I just couldn't help it :( Was just bloody awful!

Yes. Did a spectacular faint backwards in the queue for Dotty P's, of all places. I distantly heard someone saying "She's going....she's going..." and realised they meant me before going smack bang on the floor. It wasn't a crumple more of a slam.
However i didn't feel a thing and was absolutely fine afterwards - they gave me a seat and some water and i kept telling them i was pregnant because i thought they might think i was pissed Confused and i didn't look as advanced as i was.

Another low blood pressure person here, so its happened a lot over the years...

Only once in preg, luckily in the doctors. So they sent me into hospital for a few days to investigate!!

I fainted in Marks and Spencers and Waitrose. In M&S I came round and several lovely ladies hoisted me up into a chair and got me a glass of water. In Waitrose one of the checkout ladies, closed her till, got me a bottle of still lemonade and a cereal bar and sat on a bench with me whilst I ate it - i wanted her to adopt me, she was so lovely.

I also fainted in an antenatal appointment, this was a bad idea, because I ended up being kept in for observation, which was a PITA.

It usually happened because I have really low bp, and a change in temp, or standing up quickly would make me feel very dizzy and faint.

Yep, in the shop I worked in. Boss wasn't impressed.

The best morning sickness story goes to my Dsis though, she was on a bus and very suddenly felt nauseous. She threw up in the hood of the man in the seat in front of her. Poor bloke was very understanding though Smile

Leant over a freezer in Sainsburys to reach for the peas and was suddenly very sick in the freezer. They were totally blase about it - apparently it happens a lot Hmm

Also fainted in M&S and they gave me free tea and cake in the cafe after I declined the ambulance.

Fainted on the tube - came round with people peering over me but noone actually helped me (bloody London)

When pg this time I fainted at a festival, fell straight backwards into a sea of mud. Luckily, for some reason, I had a full change of clothes with me (was only a day thing). DH maintains that he had no idea I had fainted, he thought I had purposefully thrown myself backwards into the mud. Coz I do that type of thing often! Hmm
