Maternity bra recommendations

Hi ladies,

I'm only 5 weeks but my boobs are so sore and swollen. I was having a look at non-wired bras at the weekend but couldn't really find any nice ones.

I was also hoping for one that was mainly cotton.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Also, is it even worth me getting a new bra this early? Presumably boobs are going to get much bigger..

I am 18 weeks and went at the weekend to get measured and get new bras. I was really suprised at how much my boobs had grown already!!

Got a two pack in Marks and Spencers, really comfortable and good price to.

Your boobs will get bigger - before pregnancy I was a 34C, by end of pregnancy I was a 38E!

Hot Milk do some very nice ones, but they are dear. Sorry I don't have a link for them, but do a search for them.

A agree with the previous person who said M & S weren't bad. Just make sure you get measured regularly as you will change a lot.

actually get a couple of cheaper ones for now and treat yourself to something nice from hot milk once bf is established and you're not engorged...you'll get more use out of it that way.

Currently breastfeeding and I am a new fan of the bravado bras - I wish I had found them earlier on while pregnant as I spent a bomb on bras!

They are quite expensive but they are supposed to expand as you grow bigger / smaller so cuold work out cheaper.

Yes you're likely to get bigger... I held off as long as I could but managed to get some cheaper bras in Debenhams.

Also fwiw I am still wearing underwired bras, as long as they are the correct size and therefore not digging into the breast tissue there is no reason not to weat them.

I used M&S nursing bras last time and they were sh*te! Now wearing a Sophie bra from Bravissimo but am a size 34FF so need all the support I can get! I don't think M&S are that good at fitting you in the right size.

You are 100% fine to stick with wired bras if they're fitting properly (ie wires not sitting on breast tissue), throughout pregnancy and breastfeeding. Anyone that advises you to go into a non-wired bra essentially isn't confident that they've fitted you correctly. Have a look at the Bravissimo Perfect fit guide. Useful for any size cup, not just for larger cupped ladies!
If you're like me and a pre-pg H cup (so a G or up) you'll probably not want to go out of wires at all. The backpain I get is not good without decent support. If you're a D cup of above I'd highly recommend a trip to bravissimo or john lewis, or a local independant that people have recommended, for a decent fitting (even if you don't buy anything), and take it from there. At least with bravissimo and JL you can always take the bras back if you're not 100% happy after wearing them for a few weeks.
If you're lucky enough to not be too huge, I too have heard lots of good things about hotmilk bras.
Unlike the original 2 posters I'm not a fan of M&S and if you're a larger cupsize AVOID MARKS&SPENCERS. They have consistently tried to fit me in the wrong size bra, pg or not (just so I could fit into their stock I think) and do recommend non-wires for pregnancy, even if you're like me and basically NEED the wires. They sometimes get fairly sniffy with pg women who ask for wires.

As for me, I went to bravissimo at about 12wks and was fitted into a backsize up (but on the tightest fit) and 2 cupsizes larger, weighing me in at a 34J at that time. Still just about fitting in the J cup (23wks), though the back is perfect now. Am hoping I can hold out a few more weeks before I have to go up to a JJ/K!

mothercare bra are awful

I once read on a similar thread about someone who just got some cotton sports bras from primark and saved a fortune. I think it depends on your size though.
