go back to the doctor for a different type of iron supplement, or just eat more iron-rich foods, like meat (not liver), spinach, almonds, dried apricots etc.

look on the internet for more foods that are rich in iron.

I couldn't tolerate iron tablets, so took spa tone water. It's expensive, but for me it was worth it. You can get it in boots. I think there are other natural iron supplements that are less expensive too.

The same happened to me with the first tablets they gave me (ferrous sulphate), I was supposed to take them 3 times a day but it was impossible as they made me soooooo nauseous.

I told my MW and she asked for a change of prescription; they gave me ferrous fumarate tablets and those were/are great, no side effects at all. Maybe ask your MW/doc about it? Hope this helps.

I was on iron supplements with DC1 but my doctor did say to have a regular steak washed down with orange juice and this gives a significantly larger boost to your iron levels than the tablets can do. I ended up having to take the liquid iron supplements or my system clogged up.

If you take Iron with tea or coffee the tannin stops it getting into your system, Vit C increases absorption.
