DH has a cold! Will he be allowed in to see baby?

Due at any second (6 days over) and my DH can feel a cold coming on! If I'm in hospital, will they let him in to see me if he's not well? I know they keep kids out in fear of spreading infections to the newborns!

Probably being silly.

My dh had a cold when dd1 was born. He was advised not to kiss her on the head/face area and obviously he practised good hygiene and kept away from other people's babies.

Unless he makes a big song and dance about having a cold, I'm sure no one will even notice. Certainly some of the staff would go in (rightly or wrongly) with mild coughs and colds I am sure.

btw when you say they "keep kids out" - do you mean kids with colds, or children generally? In our local hospital the policy is siblings only; no other children.
