Aversion to ALL food.

I need to eat something but I seem to have developed an aversion to All Food :(

seriously, there is nothing anyone could put in front of me right now that I could eat. Not even the really dirty stuff.

And I need to get something down my neck. It's been over a day.

I'm 9 weeks..

Could you manage some plain toast or something to start with? Or some soup? That sort of things usually ok to get down.

Sorry to hear your feeling bad...i had the exact opposite problem..!

Yes I'm expecting Cakefest to begin around week 16 Grin

Toast didn't work. I was pondering a little cup of miso soup, then I did a little sick in my throat

If you are that bad then you need to see your doctor.
In my bad moments I have been living off chicken sandwiches and some cornish wafers was my breakfast this morning.

I know it sounds weird but salt and vinegar seems to work for a load of people. Including me! Particularly the cheap 'chipstick' type.

I told MW about my food aversion today, she just made the Hmm face. I'm not actually being sick that often and I can sip water, so as long as the Chipsticks do their job for a while I'll be OK.

How about pizza and bacon sandwiches? They're the two perfect foods, no? (admittedly, I don't like either of them now after having over-indulged on them during my first trimester)

i remember that

OH took me to the supermarket and their was nothing i could even consider eating...

unfortunatelt it was the begining of my slippery slope to HG.

I think i tried ice lollies, and plain ice.

what did it for me for short while was ribena ice lollies.

i was also averse to ALL drinks, water being the worst!

I was the same :( It does pass luckily.

I found I could only manage water for a few days.

I managed on a cheddar cheese bagel at about 9am.

Very dilute summer fruits squash.

An apple.

And maybe a couple of biscuits

per day

for about 4 months.

Baby was 9lb 2oz ... don't worry.

I was in the same boat and ive lost a stone since finding out I was pg. Salt n vinegar crisps, crackers n popcorn was all I ate for pretty much 12 weeks and in the smallest ever portions.

16 weeks now and every day this week I've actually been able to eat food that has resembled a breakfast lunch and a dinner!

Walkers french fries crisps, either salt or salt n vinegar. I used to eat them for breakfast, was the only thing that helped. Was recommended them by a friend with hyperemesis.
So far have yet to meet anyone they don't help - why why why though??

Same boat here. I'm usually a complete foodie! Don't think DH gets it. I can't stand food. It does get better.I'm 29 weeks. I can eat now but still don't "fancy" it.Salt n vinegar works for me. I've gone through lots of phases. Usually meaning I CAN'T stand the previous phase food after a few weeks. My phases have included

noodle soup
peanut M&Ms
vinegar on chips
apples
granola
becks blue
oat cakes
popcorn
baked potatoes
yoghurt


It will pass.

How about plain rice krispies (no milk). Another vote for salt and vinegar crisps here. And pizza.... Not much else though. Oh and tinned pears randomly!!

well I dined extravagantly last night on two packets of salt and vinegar Squares and a cherry Tango. Grin

Thanks for the tips - everyone in RL keeps suggesting bloody ginger nuts and while I appreciate their concern, I'd rather eat rocks.

I'm exactly the same at 10 weeks. Have gone from being a food hound to not in the slightest bit bothered by food at all, even plain old fish fingers make me feel a bit queasy. I'm living on Haribo sweets, cereal (the only meal of the day I do enjoy is breakfast), and ritz crackers....with the occasional bit of fruit if I can manage it thrown in for good measure!!!

I was the same as nannyl and barely ate for weeks 7-14 in both pg (33 wks with DC2 now). Hospitalised with HG in both. I could occassionally manage

  • Red cup a soup
  • very soft ice cream
  • Cheese and onion crisps


DS was 7lb 10oz, 2 weeks early.

I never want to see another ginger nut again. Mw and accupuncturist have both said that there is not enough ginger oil in them to be effective anyway, although the carbs may help you feel better.

As long as you can keep getting fluids in, then you can get away without eating for months.

I had a couple of weeks like that, at the worst of my morning sickness. DH had sooooo much food to eat because I'd buy a packet of biscuits, nibble the edge of one, throw up and refuse the rest Grin

Digestives sometimes worked. Sometimes with chocolate, sometimes without. Roast chicken with ketchup worked once too.

Contrary to PP I couldn't keep down any drink that wasn't water, and even that was hard sometimes.

Good luck. I can sympathise. Am 36+3 and threw up again last night Angry

12 weeks and even smell of food makes me run for the hills, all windows in house permanently open if anyone else cooking/eating and nobody allowed to eat in same room as me!

S&V crisps (squares are best)
Starburst
Ribena
Jaffa Cakes
Cream crackers

Sometimes tinned tomato soup, but only if I can eat it with my head sticking out of window so I can't get a whif of it (heave).
