personally i would go up there - would rather waste an hour of their time than for you to be in labour and baby to start to arrive. they advised of the risks of going into labour - have you been booked for ELCS?

No they want to see where she is when i am 38 weeks :( i was already to be booked in and have a set date (have known she is a footling breech since 34 weeks) and was hoping she will turn but to no avail. have had soooo many isues with her non movement too small early laubour was hoping they would deliver early i will ring them see what they say thanks xx

Definitely give them a ring. As they'll hopefully have told you, for a footling breech, the risk with your waters going suddenly is cord involvement, so if your waters have potentially started leaking the best place to be is probably in hospital. At the very least you need to be fully checked out. Good luck, hopefully it's a false alarm but best to be sure.

sorry had to put DS to bed. my DD too was bloody awkward footling breech and was delivered by ELCS at 38wks. She had been breech since about 22 wks and then scan confirmed it at 36wks. DS was also breech but he managed to turn. they did try an ECV but as she was footling and her foot was firmly wedged in my pelvis they couldnt turn her Sad. had been booked for a home birth and was v disappointed but she arrived safely in the end. but yes please do ring - my consultant said to ring if i felt anything like labour. best to be on the safe side. good luck!!!

Valiant - We have spoken before on another of your threads :)

Hope you are calling or making your way in now.

I have an awkward upside down baby too (and polyhydramnios) and I have been scared shitless warned of the implications of what could happen if my waters went early and have been advised to get to hospital as soon as I can so I would advise for you to going now. you are not wasting their time.

glad all is ok!

I hate the way they scare you shitless warn you of possible implications. I know they have to do it, but gawd. My DS was footling breech when my membranes prolapsed at 25 weeks. I just wrote down what they said might happen but then deleted it because it is too horrific for a public forum. In the event, although he was born at 26w it was a textbook easy labour and he moved his feet up at the last minute and was born bottom first.

Hope you get to 38w without further issue!

libelulle - i know what you mean. i have polyhydramnios and a big breech baby and they keep drumming into me that if my waters go i need to call 999 as bad things can happen. so now im petrified. i hate the scaremongering but i suppose they are just doing their job.

ALovelybunch and Valiant I have a large breech baby and I am polyhyramnios also..and they have told me to contact the hospital if waters go straight away! I'm having a scan next week and they have told me if it is still breech...they will start talking c-section!

Lucky you Leo, mine are talkinginduction at term. How the jeff can you induce with a breech! I've asked to book in for a section but politely got told no. Confused

Really..surely thats dangerous? I've had other problems as well so that might be why ...It is really stupid though because people who have had a c=section before and there is nothing wrong can elect for a c-section straight away ,but if your babies at risk and you've not had a c-section you cant elect for one! makes me angry!!

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 08/09/2011 10:07

Yes I suppose it is dangerous. My CMW is livid and is referring me back on Monday to help me get one booked. What is your AFI at your last scan?

valiant sorry for hijack lol

You'll have to keep me updated after your scan next week to let me know if you get a section booked. I should find out Monday so will let you know. Nice to have a pregnancy buddy with exactly the same problems. Are you really uncomfortable?
