What is early pregnancy about? The trick it seems to me is this - Now that we've managed to fall pregnant, we need to quickly forget that we are indeed pregnant.... so do join in and let's help each other be blissfully ignorant till the 12 week mark.
womanlytales #1 - 7 weeks

So RubyLovesMayMay #2 - 7 weeks

Hello. Im due mid april too. I have my scan at the end of the month and finding it hard to "ignore'' my pregnancy- really bad morning sickness www.mumsnet.com/te/3.gif How are you both feeling?

pep124 · 06/09/2011 15:11

Also due April (20th) and can't seem to think about anything else! Mainly as I still haven't been able to tell my bf (long story) so the fear of his reaction is playing on my mind...
No symptoms yet though apart from sore boobs and the occasional killer headache. Don't envy you the morning sickness kentDee - really hope you're not feeling too rotten. My sister in law had it awfully with both my niece and nephew, and was hospitalised several times in each pregnancy as a result. She swore by white starchy food - chip shop chips, white bread, crisps - maybe it will help you? x

kentDee · 06/09/2011 15:20

Sorry your keeping your pregnancy to yourself. Was the baby planned? Maybe your bf reaction may surprise you. Good luck anyway.

Chip shop chips are already being consumed with plenty of ready salted crisps! Im not feeling too bad today- long may it last. This is my 2nd pregnancy and Im showing already! Is anyone else?

Oh I will tell him, it's just he lives abroad and has been trekking - so have been unable to contact him - for the last 3 weeks. Has been unbearable! And no, totally unplanned (I was on the pill and am 36!!) - and we've only been together a few months. Plus he's still getting over the death of his wife a year ago, I don't think he wants kids, and as I said he lives abroad (Dubai) so really can't see it going well. But as it was against the odds I've kind of convinced myself it's meant to be. My family are amazing, and will be amazing when I tell them I know, so will have lots of support there - plus am lucky enough to have lots of friends nearby. Hopefully I'll be able to cope on my own...
And not showing - is my first - but boobs seem to be completely out of control? They weren't teeny to begin with (32E) but I can't seem to get through a day at the moment without someone commenting on how big they look! Both men and women seem to be at it, regardless of what I wear. Suspect they'll be my downfall and the reason people start to guess. That and my lack of hangovers in the office!

x

kentDee · 06/09/2011 15:46

Oh my goodness- that must be so hard not being able to contact him for 3 weeks- especially because you have news! Sorry to read about his wife- life is such a roller coaster sometimes. Good luck with telling him anyway.
With my first, I didn't show show until 5 months, and i was desperate for a baby bump ha ha. This time I can't believe I'm forming a bump already- just hoping its not twins!!!!

spannermary · 06/09/2011 17:18

Hi, guys! Wow - more April Babies! Just FYI, there is an April 2012 thread running on the Ante-Natal Clubs over on Becoming A Parent. Loads of us chatting about things we're going through at the moment...

passes round the ginger biscuits and chip shop chips and invites you all along

Lamby80 · 06/09/2011 19:45

Hi
I have just found out that i am pregnant (around 2 weeks gone) and i am not sure what i am meant to do now. I went to the doc yesterday and he told me to call the midwife, but she works for a hospital that i dont want to have baby in. Do i need to choose now? I have so many questions! Can i do a tour of the hospitals now so i can decide and then choose which midwife to contact?
Any advice gratefully recieved!
Also, do you think its too early to tell family yet?

notnowImreading · 06/09/2011 19:57

I'm in - found out last week. Had quite a lot of small, 'did I imagine it?' symptoms very early on and 'knew' from about 5dpo, but have levelled out now and haven't hit morning sickness yet so now worrying about lack of symptoms. I had mc at 6 weeks last time so am fairly highly strung this time out. I'm 4 weeks + 5 days.

mumt1 · 06/09/2011 20:06

Hiii I'm 7 weeks today :) feeling sooo sick all the time tho! Been having a few problems tho, scan last week as was aving pains showed no heartbeat so got one on friday to see if its started! Think all is ok tho as man am I showing on my belly! I was a size 8 and now they are too tight and my belly is rounded and plump! O well! Major History of twins in my partners family.infact he was a twin. Please dnt be twins! Lol.I think I was calculated to be due 22nd april :) xx

themightyskim · 06/09/2011 22:07

hi all Im 6 weeks and 3 days (or 7 weeks and 3 days depending on whether you go with my last monthly or the early scan I had at 4wk6 days) not seeming very real for me yet as I have no symptoms apart from avery strange dreams and slightly tender boobs, chuffed to bits though and crossing everything that the next few weeks go without hitch :)

Clareabella16 · 06/09/2011 22:29

Hi everyone I'm 6 weeks today and still in major shock! Although I am very happy (just shocked). My boobs are absolutely killing me I have already gone up a size. I can't sleep, but I'm constantly tired. I also feel sick and generally ill! Im told it does get better though, phew! I haven't had my first appt yet as for some bizarre reason my docs require a urine test that needs to be refrigerated for 24 hours which then gets sent to the hospital, which then takes a further 36 hours to be checked! I'm pretty confident I'm pregnant, all 5 tests have had the same result :). Clare x

pep124 · 07/09/2011 09:07

Hi Clareabella
I'm sure you are pregnant - my docs did a urnine test (and lost it) but then told me at my appointment that their tests are only as accurate as the home tests. I did two home ones so the doctor said I was definitely pregnant and referred me. So - congratulations! x

kentDee · 07/09/2011 11:26

Wow lots of April babies then! Congratulations everyone. Feeling terrible today- hate the first trimester :(

MikaelaL · 07/09/2011 11:41

Another April due date for me! I haven't been having any sicknes but do get horrific stomach pains. Midwife says its normal??!!!
Anyone else getting this?

themightyskim · 07/09/2011 11:46

me Mikaela, sometimes they go to one side but often random with where they hit, I got really worried last week when a few actually made me double up and they looked in to it being ectopic, I wasnt and they did say to me that all manner of breathtaking pains are to be expected, if your constipated that contributes and also stretching pains, hope that sets your mind at rest a bit (thats been pretty much my only symptom lol lucky me)

MikaelaL · 07/09/2011 11:51

Phew! Thanks for that reply. That does put my mind at rest...have been fretting over it and my husband is constantly on the verge of phoning an ambulance (slight over-reaction I feel but heart-felt).
I'm off work at the moment and sitting at home so can't think about much else. Was glad to find this site and have a bit of a chat with people in the same boat!

themightyskim · 07/09/2011 12:00

why dont you see about either getting some bloods done (give you an idea that everything is developing as it should) or an early scan referral? if your both worrying it cant be doing you any good x

MikaelaL · 07/09/2011 12:03

I will definitely see about that. I'm in the middle of moving house (get the keys on Friday) so will have to register with new Dr and midwife. Hopefully she might seem a bit more interested than my current one!!

womanlytales · 07/09/2011 13:03

Big wave to all those who've joined this thread - ruby, pep, kent, spanner, rimmer, Lamby, notnow, mumt1, themighty, clareabella, mikaelal

Reading all your initial experiences makes me feel better -- I felt that during ttc there was all this support and then as soon as folks got a bfp they just dropped out of circulation for those precious 6-8 weeks.

mikaelal fingers crossed for a better midwife for you when you move.

I met with my gp today - After lurking on the hypothyroidism and pregnancy thread, I went in to ask for a blood test and though it's not part of the normal protocol my gp was ok sending me away for a tsh/t4 check.
My booking appt is on Sept 20 so that's my next mini-milestone. Have you folks already met with your mid-wife?

themightyskim - I have had strange dreams every night since 1 week post ovulation - - and it's quite tiring / sometimes i need to go to sleep for an additional 1-2 hours during the day just to overcome the tiredness from having such vivid dreams. Strangely my Dad's eldest brother has appeared thrice so far in these dreams... I can't remember the last time I spoke to him even.

i'm 5 weeks :) due around 22nd april. got a good belly going on...have gone from size 6 to around an 8 or 10 already....have gained 8 lbs!! this is my 3rd pregnancy. my first was twins and second a singlton we'r keeping everything crossed there is only one in there as i'm a magic person who's body is capable of making 1,2,3 or even 4 baby's at a time but given i'm so small it's not good at carrying to term.
so pease keep your fingers crossed for me :) and congrats to you all

dolly100 · 07/09/2011 14:58
