Morning sickness- what did you eat to get through it?

I'm really struggling with morning sickness when I wake up. So hungry for breakfast but really struggle to stomach anything like toast, cereal, fruit etc. Yesterday morning I woke up and all I wanted was the left over chicken pie from dinner, I thought it would be really daft to have that for breakfast so put up with a 1/4 bowl of cereal as that was all i could manage. By 11am I gave into my stomach and had the pie! Mmm, chicken pie for breakfast!! Don't you just love pregnancy?
Have now figured that it is better to just go with my stomach rather than what I 'should' have for breakfast!

In my previous pregnancy I craved (later on) potatoes and used to have them for breakfast lunch and tea. But that was in the later months. This time it's started in the second month!

Anything you can get down is fine! Might be worth keeping a packet of plain biscuits by the bed so that you can nibble one when you wake and stave of the huge wave of nausea that often hits as soon as you stand up.

I could only ever stomach beige foods - chips, bread, plain pasta, bagels etc when my ms was bad.

Crisps, ideally tomato snaps! washed down with lemonade, the flatter the better.

I sipped a lot of flat Ginger beer & fruit smoothies.
I went from being a complete bread addict to being totally turned off by it.

Try Nairns Oatcakes with ginger if you think ginger helps with nausea (they come in packs of 4 within the main pack so you can pop them in a bag if going out). I ate loads of chocolate, pasta & potato, anything I fancied, & was so grateful it came to an end for a few weeks until now when the heartburn has kicked in!

Hula hoops! For a few weeks they were all I could manage first thing.

I have a really "unusual" baby. Fruit...

I agree with the beige food! Yuk.. And I really had to avoid all the garlic and coriander that I love. In fact if I smelt it on the street I wanted to heave.

Cereal bars.. maybe eating one bar over two hours..

I found sipping flat 7up through the morning really helped.

In answer to your question I would go with what your body wants. Fruit might seem like a good idea in the morning but fruit and morning sickness just don't marry well, do they?

Fruit worked well for me...hense the unusual baby bit. BUT most of my sickness was limited to lunchtime and the evening.
Often absolutely nothing would stay down all day so, it didn't matter how much 'beige' (or fruit) had, as people suggested, it was all going to come back up! Thankfully over the worst of it now.

Bran flakes and prawn sandwiches, which I only found out I wasn't supposed to have about 3 weeks from the end. DS1 (10yo) still loves bran flakes now!

Ice Lollies, in particular Twisters. So refreshing and something about the cold ice soothes my stomach. Though it is a bit suspicious arriving at work at 8:45 am eating a Twister!

I could smell if someone had eaten garlic within the last 12 hours from about 10 foot away. It was cereal all the way for me. That or Pot Noodles. Boak.

I have become one of the people I used to have a secret judge at in the supermarket Blush

I had a basketful of crisps, 7Up, Supernoodles, instant mash and Kraft cheese slices yesterday.

The bastard thing is, the day before the sickness arrived I'd just done a huge shop and filled the fridge with veg, herbs and fresh fish etc. Might drop it down the homeless shelter later, I'm not going to eat any of it.

I had lots of oranges, ice lollies and later on when the sickness was a little more bearable I ate a shop bought BLT and wolfed it down, I found if I had anything it would make the nausea subside a bit, good luck OP

So glad to hear I am not alone in my 'weirdness'. Today's calling was pancakes with lemon and sugar! Even had to make them from scratch!

totally second that fruit and ms do not mix! its so gross. i can never look at an apple the same way after an ms incident. is it the acid in fruit? shame as used to eat alot of fruit.

supernoodles are a winner as are chips with salt and lots of vinegar, ribena, pickle, wotsits, chewits, snickers!!!!

Lucozade sport (water was like poison) - cheese and ham supermarket sandwiches (could just rip open and eat as soon as I felt like I could stomach anything) - Complan and those carmello pudding things got me through that awful stage. Vegetables in general, green vegetables in particular, just would not stay down.
