Pregnancy

missed miscarriage or am I just freaking???

I am about 7.5 weeks, very sure about my dates unless I freakishly ovulated late ad sperm survived in me. I had a scan at 7 week that said my scak measured smallish and appeared empty. I had another at 7.3 days and there might have been "some flickering, but appears empty. need to rescan in a week". My HCG levels are increasing appropriately as are my pregnancy symptoms such a morning )or all day in my case) sickness, sore boobs, etc. I haven't had any bleeding or discharge. I have a 4 year old and one previous miscarriage where I bled immediately and it was all over in a few hours. Note I have been told I have "the most tilted uterus I've ever seen" many times when being scanned.

My question to you all is -- at what point do I believe the sack is empty and prepare accordingly? It is possible for something to suddenly show up? Can my tilted uterus be having an impact?

I'd really like to hear from someone who might have any info (good or bad). Is it just so hard to be feeling the pregnant to be told I might not be!! This is very hard.

i understand what a hard position it is to be in, i'm never sure if its best to keep hopes up or not!having had a threatened miscarriage with my first baby(went to term) then a missed miscarriage with my second, i would say increasing sickness is a positive. despite lots of negative signs & bleeding with my first i continually felt sick , whereas with the second i stopped feeling sick suddenly at 6 wks & just "knew"(although i did continue to develop other pregnancy symptoms which i understand is due to body continuing to prepare for pregnancy). didnt get a scan til i started bleeding at 11 wks but it showed the pregnancy had stopped at 6+5 wks, they still gave me repeat scans to double check. i think as you are still early,& can be hard to get a good view ,hospital policy is to leave room for doubt before 8ish wks.i also have a hard to view uterus so always needed internal scanning . big hugs & crossed fingers for you.

A tilted uterus can make it hard to get a good view and at these early stages if your dates are off by even just a few days it can make a massive difference to what they can/can't see in terms of foetal development. Sperm can survive for up to seven days inside of you and unless you've been charting then ovulation could have occured later than expected - I've been off on my dates with all of my pregnancies from 4 days to six weeks!

The fact your symptoms, etc are continuing is a good sign. I had a missed miscarriage at 15 weeks (baby stopped at 14 weeks) and my symptoms stopped overnight, I also had a very small amount of light brown discharge. Missed miscarriages are fairly uncommon, around 2%, I know it doesn't seem that way reading the boards but that's because you've got lots of people here with shared experiences.

Fingers crossed that when you go back next week there'll have been some development and good news x

Agree with CBear about a tilted uterus making things harder to see. HCG levels are rising appropriately and strong symptoms is very promising, so try not to worry too much (I know, easier said that done).

Have you got another scan booked soon?
