Bio oil - arms and legs as well as bump?

Lloyds pharmacy have a fantastic offer on bio-oil - it's half price. So I stocked up as I'm 8 weeks pregnant and am thinking about starting to use it.
Just wondering where I use it? I assumed just around bump, but then thought that really you could get stretch marks all over...

Was thinking boobs, bump, arms and legs. have I covered all bases?! Should I do my bum as well?!

I do overthink things, as you can tell...

From boobs to knees IME.

I got stretch marks on my thighs, n'ere a one on my bump Hmm
Bio oil is lovely and not too perfumed - put it on when you're still wet in the shower. Dab it onto your belly and gently, with light fingers, move it round, especially under your bump. If you slap it on with a flat hand, and rub it in, you can give yourself a stretch mark by tearing the dermal layer, so, gently does it.

Enjoy your pregnancy Smile

Thanks for the advice on applying Dorje!
I can be a bit ham-fisted so will try to be delicate Wink

I thought I'd covered all bases (boobs, bump, thighs) and was feeling pretty pleased with myself by month 9 with barely any visible stretching, but after I'd had DD, and could see my whole body again, I realised I'd got HUGE tiger claw stripes on the very top of the backs of my thighs, right under my bum!!! I was gutted, as I hadn't been able to see the spot, so hadn't diligently slathered on the oil just where I needed it most.

So that's my advice. Under your bum. And inner thighs generally - when bump gets big you won't be able to see them...

I second under the bump too. I was good at that, and although I felt the skin stretching there (itchy!), I have no visible marks.

I have used it all over but it can take a while to sink in so don't get dressed straight away. I am 36+5 and have fairly small purple marks on hips and under boobs and found some under bump that just appeared last week - boo! Hopefully if I keep using oil they will fade quickly. Coco butter is my other choice. Just grease yourself up ALL over Grin

So does it always have to be applied while still wet??

Do not forget your boobs, good you have them on your list! And don't forget to keep oiling AFTER the birth too. Your boobs will swell up once your milk comes in - I got shocking stretch marks on mine after having DC1.

Fortunately they've faded now and I oiled for DC2, no repeat.

You don't have to be wet but it spreads and sinks in easier if you are. I think it is habit for me with using tinted moisturiser - if you are wet it doesnt smear and leave streaks (the tan not the oil).

Bodyunknown - grr - it's annoying isn't it. My stretch marks are in my inner thighs, and I was so diligent also about under my bump as a friend warned me that when she was 39 plus weeks was when she went rippity rippity rippity ping one day - and all these marks appeared under her bump with her.

I second oil your boobs after the babe is born also MrsBloomingTroll - my god my boobs looked like somebody's prize marrows for the agricultural show on day three. They got massive and lifted up off my chest and were hard as rocks: but no stretch marks as I had used bio oil on them.

i found it easier to get a little oil everywhere if I was still standing in the shower, and not dry, as a little went a long way.

I've been oiling up for the past three days and have noticed that a burn scar I have on my thigh has actually faded already! Am definitely keeping up with the regime now!
Will definitely keep up after the birth too.
Thanks ladies Grin

you can also get bio oil for about half price on amazon, so when it's not on offer in the shops look on amazon. I did hear a rumor that it may be possible to get it on prescription so I'm going to ask my MW when I next see her.
