How exciting that you may be going into labour! Hope it all goes really well for you Smile

With D1 I felt like I was getting my period and was just really uncomfortable. Was three weeks early so took a few hours to twig what was going on - I packed my hospital bag as the contractions started to kick in Grin D2 was ELCS so didn't go into labour Wink

I had a show and my contractions started a few hours later. Although a show can happen weeks before labour I did have a feeling it was it.

Good luck! Smile

I didn't realise with my first. I had pre eclampsia and had been in hospital a couple of days and when I took a turn for the worse I got moved to the labour ward to be induced. I was told I was already three centimetres dilated adn contracting 3 in 10 so they just broke my waters.

With my second I rolled over in bed and my waters popped. Gushed everywhere. Contractions started 40 minutes later and were every 2 minutes. Labour was three hours start to finish (twins).

Good thread! Am currently 35 weeks and had period-type pains this week, panic stations! It all eased off after a good sleep though. Bump has been a bit hard in the night sometimes, not sure whether this is just because it's getting bigger. Not felt any contractions but with this being my first, how the hell would I know if I was having them?!

My first sign was pink show. I went to hospital for a check up and it was really my waters leaking.

Contractions started 24 hours after that.

An irresistible urge to iron all the table napkins we own - never done it before or since! Grin So this time round I'll know ...

A loud pop! as my waters broke. It woke me up!

First time I was induced, so second time around I was really scared.

It was great though. I woke up at 2am and felt really energetic and loose jointed, I was sitting on the stairs stretching open my hips without really knowing what I was doing. Also, adrenaline, and lots of excitement!!

I had a bit of pink on my pad, but hadn't had any contractions - so I thought. Called the hospital, and they told me to go in to check if my waters had gone. They hadn't, BUT I was 4cm, and must have been having the contractions in my sleep. Bonus!

Waters broke and woke me up, though as it kept stopping and starting in my tired state I wondered if I was weeing myself for a while. I eventually worked out dd's head was blocking the flow and it was amniotic fluid. Not until very clear and regular contractions started though soon after and I put 2 and 2 together.

Terrible terrible back ache!! With my first I was woken at 4.30am with stabbing pains in my lower back, it took a little while at first to work out what it was, i didnt realise/nobody told me you could get labour pains in your back!! With my 2nd it was the same so I knew what was going on. Expecting my 3rd (due xmas day) so no doubt it will be the same!!

DC1 was a show followed shortly later by my waters breaking. Contractions started about 6 hours later (well ones I could feel anyway). DC2 was period like pain when I went to bed that woke me with a bit more intensity at 2am and he was born 6am the following morning.

A show in the afternoon (told DH to expect a baby soon but he didn't believe me), then a pop and waters breaking in the middle of the night with first; being very grumpy and having a painful tum with 2nd; severe contractions with 3rd.

Good luck OP (jealous! even though #3 is only 6m old Hmm) :o

What felt like a period starting and then gradually getting worse.

I felt flu-y at about 8pm and sussed out what was happening. By 9pm there was a bit of an ache in my bump.

By midnight the contractions were under way and I had a show.

Funnily enough there is a photo of me that evening (it was our last ante-natal group). My skin is weirdly pale but my lips are really red, I wonder if that was something to do with labour.

With DD1 I had a show then my waters broke.
With DD2 I had lots of twinges followed by a funny show. Went to hosp as was booked for ELCS, but said nothing happening. Internal exam led to proper show. Waters broke about 12 hours later.

These are interesting. I've had loads of the pre labour 'warning signs' my midwife told me about-feeling flu-y, period type pains, back ache, increased braxton hicks. But I've had them all for about a week and am 35 weeks so don't think they actually mean anything! I can't help but over analyse each as they happen though.

Had an upset stomach for 3 days, woke up with back pain and DS was born 4 hrs later!

I woke in the middle of the night and had horrible diorreah and then proceeded to shake uncontrollably. Was quite concerned about what on earth was happening at the time. Eventually settled back to sleep but felt 'odd' that morning and asked DH not to go to work. At 10am my waters started to trickle. Went into labour about 7pm. Apparently the shaking was the adrenalin rush as my body was preparing for what was to come. It happened towards the end of my labour too.
