Pregnancy and electric blankets

Hi everyone,
I know it is still August but I have not been warm once this 'Summer' (I am in Ireland btw)
I've read that you are usually warm during pregnancy but I must say I haven't experienced this, it is still only week 13 for me though. My question is, are electric blankets safe to use in pregnancy? It seems there are so many things you must avoid when pregnant and this is my first pregnancy so I'm just learning. I know its not a good thing to become overheated in pregnancy but my house is geenrally cold, its an end house so residual warmth either.
TIA

I think you its OK if you put it on to warm up your bed but then turn it off when you get in. Its really quite dangerous to overheat. My DH also said something about the electronic field, but not sure about that part! Hmm

I've never, ever heard that you shouldn't use an electric blanket in pregnancy!
