Pregnancy

Question for mums with both a DS and a DD

Did your pregnancy with one sex differ to the pregnancy with the other, or were they the same?

I have a DD, and I'm now 26 weeks pregnant with my second DC.

This pregnancy feels exactly the same as the last symptoms, which inexplicably makes me think it's another girl.

Your experiences please!

First pregnancy, sick as a dog all the way through, ending up with PET. DD
Second, ditto, DS.

Do you really think the presence of a teeny tiny willy is going to make a blind bit of difference? Grin

No I don't suppose it is, when you put it like that :)

I felt horrendous during my pg with DS. Not ill, just absolutely knackered

With the DDs I felt ok

But DS was #3. Don't know if that made a difference? Knackered anyway and older etc etc

Diff pregnancies, but subtly!
No spots with DS but lots of throwing up which didn't happen with DD. Tired = same. Appetite = diff! All potato & haribo with DD. All oats and milk with DS.
Dreadful pelvic pain with both tho!

Oh and I didnt find out sex either time so I pondered exactly on this too.

No difference at all, but I just had a feeling that DD would be a girl.

First preg, absolutely fine. No nausea. Piled on the weight = boy

I was exactly the same as you. Had a dd first and then had identical pregnancy symptoms/cravings second time, so pretty much assumed we were having another dd. But ... then ... about two weeks before my due date, random older ladies came up to me (as they do) and said "you're having a baby boy, you know" - and so dh and I put plan b into action and started thinking about boy names an , yes, indeed, a baby boy he was.

Looking back, I was definitely more hairy carrying my boy. With dd I hardly had to do any leg/underarm shaving at all. With ds I was hairier than normal. Otherwise the pregnancies were identical.

I had the same pregnancy symptoms with both dd and ds. I put more weight on with ds though.

DS I felt sick all the time and was sick. I craved salad, esp celery (or maybe not craved but in my sickened state it was all I could stomach and was coold and fresh).

With DD I felt a bit sick, not overly, and wasn't ever actually sick. I craved chocolate and cake :( and am now on a mega diet!

Was shockingly sick with my three DDs and knew almost immediately I was pregnant (sore boobs, general crapness). Didn't know I was pregnant with DS until 21 weeks, no sickness, tiny periods, and he arrived at 28 weeks. The only discernible difference between my girls' pregnancies was that I was huge with DD1 and put on no weight at all with DDs 2 & 3.

Both pregnancies - Felt vaguely sick quite a lot, but never had proper throwing up type morning sickness. Skin and hair both looked way better than usual.
Just DS - Looked bigger all over
Just DD - Had enormous bump but no weight gain anywhere else

Far sicker in 1st trimester with DS. Also had a very itchy skin rash when carrying DS. Was diagnosed with puppp - apparently 70% of women with puppp carry boys. Reckon it could be something to do with male dna.

I was hideously sick followed by permanently nauseous with both DD and DS, so no difference here!

Chynah · 14/08/2011 21:48

Nausea but no sickness, no cravings, no spots, no lovely luxuriant hair, no swelling (in fact if I didn't know I was pregnant I wouldn't have known I was pregnant) very little weight gain either time - one of each

I was much more sick with DC1 (DD) than DC2 (DS) but I was working with DC1 and doing long hours I think my body may have been protesting. DD was only 8 months when I became pregnant again so I tried to relax lots as she wasn't mobile yet and eat little and often to work through nausea and was only sick a handful of times with DC2.

DD -

no sickness
enough energy to get about
bump went round and low
great nails/skin/ hair

DS

barfing from conception
sleeping constantly
bump high and proud
nails growing but not as well as with DD, skin sallow and spotty and oily and just disgusting! and of coarse my hair is a mess..

i knew this one was a boy from the get go with the sickness tbh just needed 'proof' at my 20 week scan Grin

First pregnancy piled on the weight, loads of morning sickness, craved porridge and ice cream, huge bump spreading all the way round, looked like a house = boy

This pregnancy not much weight gain, craving fruit, morning sickness not as bad but really bad aversions to smells, neat bump all at the front = another boy

So totally different, but this could be die to how much busier I am this time, and less tine to thin about sickness etc, just have to get on with it!
