Hey girlies!,

I posted my Mat B1 form Tuesday 9th Aug along with my original payslips by recorded first class post. It still has'nt arrived and according to track and trace it is somewhere in the system!! Is it lost?? I am so worried. Really relying on getting Mat Allowance. There will be no way of recovering the payslips i have lost as i no longer work for the company which is also in the process of being sold.
I left work in March due to my daughter being diagnosed with a rare brain infection and has now had 3 major brain operations (and is well on the road to recovery :) ). I had worked up until that point 34 weeks of my 66 week test period continually so i know i am entitled to Mat Allowance but if my payslips are lost i don't know what i will do. Anyone else had this problem with Royal Mail??

no idea either, but surely they have a system to deal with problems...

especially as you have proof of postage and sent it recorded delivery.

do you have a p45 / p60 (i forget which one it is) that shows who you worked for and how much tax you paid etc?

At the end of the day YOU WORKED for the qualifying period, you are ENTITLED to MA, so although you may have to tick a few more boxes, answer some extra questions etc / i cant see you being refused it...

Good luck and i hope it arrives soon

As for royal mail, you wont be the 1st or last person who has issues, even when sent recorded. you are just unlucky that it happens to be this.

Hi

Also, just to add, the Maternity Allowance people just need 4 payslips from the qualifying period. Not 4 specific ones, any 4 ones. So if you call them tomorrow it maybe you can speed things up by scanning/emailing in other payslips?? Just a thought...

If you need to get another MAT B1 from the doc - I don't see that it would be a problem if you explain. Then take copies before you send them off - even though mine is going through Company internal mail I've taken copies of everything first!

There is still hope recorded first class is so slow, paying extra doesnt mean speed unfortunatly. I always use special delivery now as 9 times out of 10 it gets there the next day as promised.

Its only special delivery that guarantees next day delivery. Recorded means it is just signed for but doesn't guarantee it getting there any quicker. Its only been 3 working days since you posted it.

Thank you for your replies. I am sure i just need to be a little bit more patient. I appear to be very hormonal and emotional at the min. The joys of pregnancy :)

You should have got a tracking number (might be on your receipt from the post office) when you posted your letter off. Go to Royal Mail Track and Trace and type the number in. It should tell you where in the system it is. I've had problems before (with my MA dissertation Shock) and it turn out that it had been delivered (you can even see the signature online) and had got lost in the university post-room Hmm. But at least that meant I could shout at the right people. Grin

Good luck!
