Am I worrying over nothing?...

I've got a meeting in London on Friday morning and whilst I am sure that the recent riot activity will of died down by the end of the week, I'm really nervous about going especially as I will be travelling there and back on my own. Am I over reacting and should I just get a grip??

I would normally get on with it, but since becoming pregnant I've started to get a lot more nervous about things like this!

i personally wouldn't risk it.

see if they've died down, but maybe contact who you're meeting and advise that you might not be able to make it because of the riots? but that you'll confirm on the day?

Thanks, that's what I'm thinking, but then I don't want it to look like I'm being a wimp!

What area's it in?

I don't know exactly to be honest, it's fairly central I think - the address just says John Street, London?! Have spoken to the client today and he's said that it was really 'edgy' went he went out for his lunch and that police vans etc keep screaming past... didn't really put my mind at rest!

Holborn/Farringdon/Kings Cross area:

My advice to you is to hold off - if you can - on deciding. It's only Tuesday - all of this might have completely gone by then. We just don't know... Offices are shutting early throughout parts of London (including Holborn and Farringdon, I understand), and shops are being boarded up. My whole office was sent home at 2pm, as a precaution. If you can hold off on deciding then do so, but if you have to take a decision now then my advice is to go on the side of caution and postpone.

OK, thanks. I should be ok to hold off a decision until end of play tomorrow or Thursday morning.

I hope you're ok!? All of this is so distressing, my thoughts go out to all of those who are innocently caught up in all of this mindless vandalism!

Thanks, I'm okay. My little pocket of London hasn't seen any problems yet and hopefully it doesn't.

I was supposed to be travelling to one of the affected cities and staying there tonight but I decided not to go. My manager was absolutely fine about it - she wouldn't ask me to go if I wasn't comfortable and I'm sure the case will be the same for you.

I must admit I am a bit worried about what my company will say. They're expectations of staff are very high and it's not the nicest place to work! But if there's a possibility of a risk then I really don't want to put my baby through that!

It's really good your manager was supportive of your decision!

What time of day will your meeting finish? I would have thought it's probably ok as long as you're heading back out of there midday-ish but if there's any way of getting out of the meeting, I would.

I live and work in London. Nothing happened yesterday. Today is absolutely fine and people are getting on with it. I am not making any evening plans for this week (I am nearly 33 weeks pregnant), but have no problems being out and about until 4ish. I think so long as your meeting isn't in the evening, you have nothing to worry about, especially if you are staying in central London.
