Pregnancy

22 weeks what is this ache???

I dont know whether to call midwife or maternity ward or just shut up.

Since last night I've had an ache in my delicates, it started off not too bad, but I literally cannot sit down now. Its sort of (sorry, graphic deatails!) between the outer and inner lips on one side, and has spread today to the muscles inside the vagina. It aches when I wee, no stinging or burning so I don't think its a UTI. I've had a heat pad thingy between my legs, I instinctively feel heat is more helpful than cold. I've taken painkillers (prescribed whilst pg), and its not touched it.

Is this just a normal pregnant thing? This is my 2nd pregnancy where I've got this far along, but don't remember this with my DS. Maybe a coincidence, but I also had a nose bleed just before the pain came on, and had a blood clot come out of my nose about lunchtime.

I've not done anything to strain anything, not had sex recently, so its not like I've 'bruised' myself or the like.

Can anyone give me some advice please?

Bump

Don't know about the ache, but at 29 weeks, I have had a lot of nosebleeds recently too. Is it maybe the baby stretching you from inside? I'd hang on to speak to your mw.

If in doubt call your midwife

I would definitely call your midwife, if painkillers are not helping etc. It could be the baby pressing in a nerve or something but I wouldn't take the risk of ignoring. You don't have to have symptoms of a uti to actually ave one though, I was told a few days ago that I had a pretty bad uti but I hadn't had any symptoms at all!

have you inspected down below? Last pregnancy I got vulval varicose veins (I know, gross! been lucky to avoid them so far this time) & it felt very painful & swollen down below. When I looked, I was shocked to find my entire 'under carriage' had gone purple, blue & swollen. Might be worth a look with a mirror, or ask DH if he can bear it??!!

Cant see anything untoward, and it seems to have eased a bit after a hot bath - I'll keep my fingers crossed it doesnt come back bad again!

Was just about to suggest fanjo piles? Vulval variscosities as mentioned below. Kind of dragging pain? Comes on with standing too long. Minging but does go after delivery.
