13 + 5. Strong, throbbing back pain and crampy feeling in abdomen...

Just looking for some reassurance. I'm probably being a hypochondriac. Since last night I've been having these cramping, throbbing pains in my lower back and round my waist to the front of my bump. The pain's been getting crampier and more painful.

I know it's probably ligaments stretching and I'm being a big fusspot, but it didn't happen to be with DS and it's worrying me a bit.

NHS Direct are phoning me back (yes I am really that much of a hypochonidriac, but I wondered if, while I wait, anyone had some reassuring words and 'pull yourself together woman, it's perfectly normal' advice for me.. please?!

I know it isn't what you want to hear, but I would be going to get checked out at the maternity unit. If it is getting worse, rather than better I wouldn't leave it, and I reckon NHS Direct will say the same.

Hopefully, it is just stretching which can be blooming painful! And you haven't had any bleeding? So hopefully you are ok. But go get checked out.

You do need to be checked. You may have a UTI which can irritate the uterus.

Thank you all for your help.

I am not usually a worrier, but my last pregnancy was so complicated that I am a bit sensitive to potential problems and it is really quite uncomfortable! I'm wriggling around but there's no comfortable position that eases it.

NHS direct said to take some paracetamol and go and see my GP if I have any more symptoms. I had a feeling that's what they'd say as I haven't had any bleeding or anything. Ho hum...just wait and hope it gets better, I guess.

If your pain gets worse just go to A&E, I would be really worried as well. Have you had any indigestion/ constipation as these can also be culprits?
