Not sure if this is the right Board, will move if you recommend.

This is where i'll be due to give birth in December, and would like to hear peolple's experience of it....the good, the bad and the ugly....I like to be prepared Smile

Thanks in advance

well they've just turned me down for a job :( But I don;t know anything about the maternity services, sorry :)
Hint though - if you don't klnow where it is do a couple of test runs because I found it a night mare to find! Although presumably you'll go for antenatal stuff as well

I had my ds there in 2007. I can't speak highly enough of the maternity unit, the hospital as a whole really. I live between QE and university hospital Durham and will definitely be choosing QE again to have dc2 in just under 9 months time Grin

It's ranked one of the best maternity units in the country.

Feel free to ask any questions Smile

I also live exactly between the QE and uni hospital Durham and chose the QE due ti friends recommendations - am due the beginning of November so can let you know closer to the time!

Have only heard good things about it though so am hopeful :)

Ooh, my mum works there in the Maternity unit and in community!

Well, tell her am v impressed with the care so far - the community midwife's have been fab!

And stealth is right - it can be a pain in the backside to find, esp as the maternity unit is nowhere near the main entrance - you need to go in from the Windy Nook Road side, not the QE Avenue bit. A trial run definitely in order!

Has DS in there in 2006 had a CS, surgical staff, maternity staff excellent. I had my own room, I found it a busy and noisey place to be after having a baby, but I think most hospitals are like this, and it was my first time in a hopsital overnight. (having been in a different one recently for something else)

I am due feb 2012 and live elsewhere now I will be v happy if my new local hospital is as good.

Oh, I was prepared for good and bad, and am very relieved that the feedback has been positive so far Smile

Never had any exp of hospitals before (never had reason to go in since my own birth!) so wanted some opinions. Am mentally preparing myself for naff food, hot wards and noise, but am sure that's the same in all hospitals.

Thanks ladies
