Hiya! I'M 39 weeks today aswell. Is your due date 3rd August?

I've had weekly midwife appointments because of high blood pressure and was 3/5 at 37, still 3/5 at 38 weeks!! So my little ones been in position 3 for nearly three weeks now, so I doubt labour imminent :( sorry!

I've been 2 or 3/5 engaged since 34 weeks, am almost 39 weeks now. Apparently it means nothing especially with first babies! Sorry. Let's hope they all hurry up!

It means nothing at all sadly. DS (my first baby) didn't engage at all, not even part of the way, until I was 6cm dilated and he was born exactly on his due date. DN (SILs first baby) was fully engaged from around 34 weeks and she went overdue.

I was excited when the midwife said something about decending into the pelvis... but no :(
I'm 100% sure you'l have yours before me, I bet he's as late as physically possible knowing my luck!

I was told mine was fully engaged monday just gone (guess that must be 5/5? - no idea tbh), still nothing though... just feel like I am walking more like a penguin!!

Susie - fully engaged is 0/5. It's the amount of head that is free that is measured. I asked my M/W :)

Apparently it's no sign I am afraid my sister had DS2 2 weeks early, she was actually 3cm dilated for 2 weeks before that even though he wasn't engaged.

Last week when I was 35+1 and 35+5 I measured at 4/5th free both checks and et MW is estimating I will go into spontaneous labour around the 39 week mark...

Susie I already a feeling like I am walking like a penguin now so fully engaged must be bloody uncomfortable (I can't remember DD1 is nearly 12 now so long time since I was at this stage!!)

My baby's head was 3/5 engaged and the moneky has decided just to turn breech so it's not necessarily representative.

I don't think it means much but I'm 3/5 and am 39 weeks today (well by the scan dates anyway) so due around the same time. I'm just glad she is head down as I've got too much amniotic fluid and there is a risk she'll flip round.

Still no sign today, yes lets hope they stay head down and not back to back!

DD was fully engaged at 31 weeks. She stayed there for 2 months. It was like having a bowling ball down there.

Still fully enganged, and still nothing! I wish she hadnt told me now, its made me ten times more impatient.

The penguin walk does not look good lol!! and ive got my DD1 pony riding lesson later where im meant to run alongside pony as she is trotting, god help me, thats going to be fun, last week was hard enough!! Oh well, maybe it will encourage little one out!!

It's frustrating isn't it?

They do really have to keep an eye on how well the head is engaged though for several reasons, not least because if you suffered a PROM, the head being engaged or not-actually the general position of the baby as a whole- is very important.

It won't be long. Promise. They all come out in the end.

No way to tell DD never engaged until delivery.

How longs a piece of string? Sorry but it'll be when baby is ready.

Neither ds1 or ds2 ever engaged, but dd (who was no3) was engaged from about 32 weeks. From 35 weeks she was as far down as she could go without actually hanging down between my legs but she didn't arrive until 41wks.
