I know i probably sound paranoid, ott and maybe a bit silly (please be nice)Smile, but has anyone ever rented a doppler before?

I'm 10 weeks pg now with my 2nd i know every pregnancy is different but i don't feel very pg, boobs are sore, tummy quite swollen and a bit tired. With my 1st i was sick constantly so i'm just wondering is everything ok?? Had my booking in on Friday and she didn't listen or feel and i'm just desperate to know is baby ok??

Has anyone rented one before or am i just wasting my money and should i wait till my scan in 2 weeks????

I didnt think dopplers worked till around 15/16 weeks, I may well be wrong. I would wait the 2 weeks till the scan, its amazing!

Hi, we bought a doppler from e-bay for our second baby as it cost about the same as renting for the whole pg. I knew I was being neurotic but TBH just wanted the odd bit of reassurance as our first pg didn't go well.

I suppose the main thing is not to rely on it - if you are really worried you should see the m/w or docs - but if its just for fun or to stop yourself going mad with worry then I say go for it. I am now pg with my third and use it occasionally. Especially before you get lots of reliable movements it does help keep you calm!

Good luck and congratulations

Oh - and 10 weeks is a bit early - don't think we even tried to hear anything till 16 weeks. HTH

I brought 1 off eBay for about £40. I was 15 weeks pregnant and had heard the babies heartbeat at the mw appointment 1st before purchasing it. Definatly worth every penny. We used it every day till he was born and found it very reassuring. But it does take some time to learn to use it properly or u can end up picking up your own heartbeat. We also used the anti bacterial gel to put on tummy 1st before using it. 10 weeks is to early tho, so maybe get 1 for use in a few weeks time.

Ok thanks all. Didn't have a bad 1st pregnancy or anything i'm just not liking having to wait soooo long to find out if everything's ok (impatient i know). So hard at 10 weeks how do you know if baby is ok in there?

I'll wait a bit and then get one hopefully Smile
