I have been getting a stitch / cramp like pain in left side of lower stomach, am wondering if it is baby turning am 31 weeks or could it be something else? It hurts when I move too much or stand up to walk around but not curl up in tears pain. Not sure if it is normal so quick advice appreciated - cheers.

I had this on Thursday. Felt like a sharp stitch in right hand side of tummy. As you say, not curl up and cry pain but enough to make me grimace.

I sat down and had some lunch, plenty of water / a good rest and it went away after an hour or so. I concluded it was muscle pain due to baby seeming to be very active.

I wouldn't like to conclude your pain is the same though - how long has it been there and has resting helped? If it's persistent and you can't get it to ease off perhaps it's best to get it checked out?

Yup, me too (26 wks with twins). Actually I had it both sides today!

I'm assuming it's ligament pain - I remember reading that if the pain goes away when you sit down, it's probably that.

Usual thing though, if you're worried or want reassurance, ring the midwife :)

I had stitch like pains through most of my pregnancy (2nd trimester onwards) my midwife said it was just my uterus stretching, but check with your midwife if your really worried

Thanks guys, will go and get checked out today as the pain lasted all night and was hurting when I tried to move positions in bed. DH is away all next week so don't want to find I have a problem and need to drive myself in. Would rather be told it is stretching or UTI than worry myself silly.

I hope it went well at the hospital. My DH is away a lot with work too so I know how that feels.

I get this! First started around 4 months, couldn't walk fast or for more than 3 minutes without having to stop because of the pain!

It went away after a few weeks and now at 30 weeks it came back with a vengeance today! BUT mine stops once I stop walking so I don't think it's the same as yours. I had a scan at 21 weeks which coinsided with a day I was getting these pains. The scan showed nothing in particular, just the baby pushing down with his feet where I was hurting, so I concluded it was the baby's position.

What did the hospital say?

I went in and they put me on a tracer which was strange as could hear all his moving as well as seeing it, heartbeat fine and every medical proffesional comments on how active he is so they said he is growing quickly but not reducing movement and my body is trying to catch up. Am getting worried he will be huge if he doesn't slow down. Was relieved to have UTI, constipation etc ruled out sometimes it just helps knowing what the problem is not, even if not 100% sure what it is so have been told to take it easy and feet up - those are instructions I am pleased to get especially as school finished this week. Will go back in if it gets worse after paracetamol. He is still lying sideways but has time to turn head down so not worried about thet though would be nice to give my ribs a break. Thanks for advice guys!
