Skin Tags and Warts? (uurgggh)

Sorry to bring up this horrible subject but I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance really. Has anyone else started to get skin tags and warts since they have been pregnant or have they got worse?

I've already been to the doctor to get skin tags checked out and now I have a wart on my face and I feel really silly going back to the doctor but I know it's important to get it checked out just in case as there is family history of skin cancer. I'm stressing! Please help Blush

I get skin tags and have done with all my pregnancies. Never had a wart though might be worth getting it checked if there is a history though, always better to be safe and don't feel silly.

Yep loads of skin tags - disgusting, but keeping calm from the reassurances that they will disappear at some point after the baby is born.

I don't appear to have any warts though, so i would head to the docs to get that checked out just in case.

Some of my moles/freckles have changed too... I went to the doctors last week about them and was reassured that was usual too.

I had a mole removed after my 1st preg that went itchy & horrible. Convinced myself I had some terrible condition but results came back fine we now think it was just as a result of rubbing bra strap due to huge pregnancy boobs! Also had new & irritated skin tags this preg on my back, again under my bra. I went out & bought bigger bras and the itching has stopped. I think skin tags in preg are combination of hormone changes & rubbing clothes as u get bigger. I also had verucca during 1st preg (related to warts I believe) & successfully treated it with tea tree oil.

OOh, this is interesting.
I didn't know the two were connected?
I have always had the odd skin tag, but since my first pregnancy, 3 years ago, have got loads around my chest, neck, and under my boobs!!
I went to the doctors, and she said they were warts, and froze them off.
The wart nurse said there were thousands of types of skin tags, that are just classed under the 'wart' catogory?
I also have really bad chloasma over most of my face ( which does fade slightly after birth)
I am naughty and do sit in the sun, which I presumed was the cause of my recent skin problems.
I was even going to go to the doctors after number 3 arrives. Due to some of the tags rubbing on my bra, or necklace etc.
I will do some research now, as I was starting to get my a bit worried incase they carried on spreading to my face Confused

Hello, you have just reminded me of the skin tag I had on my nipple! Had loads when pregnant especially on the neck- can't believe I forgot about the nipple one as I was so worried at the time. It's fairly common, and they do go once baby arrives (I think mine clocked out when stretch marks clocked in)!

I have no idea of what a skin tag is?

But I am definitely experiencing a really bizarre attack of warts. I have at least 7 on my next and tiny ones in various other places suddenly. After I finally have this critter inside of me (I am over due. Smile), I plan to promptly ask the doctor to help me remove all these things as they are unsightly and uncomfortabel

Interesting that I am not alone.

I have a huge wart on my finger that I've had for a few months now (24 weeks pregnant), and hadn't had one since I was a teenager. How reassuring that it might disappear soon after birth! I haven't thought of getting it removed - just waiting for it to go away in its own good time.

Another one her who has been hit by the skin tag fairy! Had them in every pregnancy, and a wart on one finger which appears in the same place throughout each pregnancy and goes again once baby is a couple of months old. Also my moles changed in pregnancy, saw a dermatologist who said this was very normal and not to worry. But I still do!!! Grin and will be going back again once baby is born (in 2 months) to get the ones on my back checked. I am sure they have a big sticker on my file that says nurotic hypocondriac (sp?)

Hi everyone

Wow - I feel so much better now knowing that I am not alone in this. I did read up about skin tags and warts and apparently the warts turn up because your immune system is a bit lower when you are pregnant. It is also great to know I am not alone in worrying about it. I do feel a bit picky going back to the doctor but I think we should all go if it is concerning us in any way - better to be on the safe side.

Apparently in quite a lot of cases the warts just fall off after pregnancy but I'm gonna ask the doctor about this.

Here's to a smoother skin experience for us all once we have had our little ones! Wink

I havent read through the other posts.... but your warts might be due to having low immune system during pregnancy... you prob have always carried the wart virus( its very common), and they have just appeared in pregnancy as your immue system is low..

the same thing happened to me after an operation, my immune system dropped, and i got warts... they soon went though once it got back to full strength!
