I'm 37+5 weeks and so far have been really lucky to avoid getting any stretch marks. Its something I've been worried about. Am I in the clear or could I still get them?

Third for me, too and at 36+4 no stretch marks... (crosses fingers and mutters to herself) but my Mum and sister didn't get them either. Although, I still douse myself in Bio-Oil a few times a week Grin just in case.

how great for you! how about posting about an ACTUAL problem on here, rather than almost boasting to people who will click on this thread who do have really bad stretch marks and feel crap about it.
No one cares that you don't have any.

I had no stretch marks until about 39 weeks, up until then I was feeling pretty pleased. Baby was 2 weeks late and the number of stretch marks I got between 39 and 42 weeks was too upsetting!

Hope you have better luck than me OP!

Bit harsh rooks14, there are plenty of threads on here that when people click on them will make them feel crap. I didn't realise that this forum was only for problems.

It's genetic. You'll get them or you won't. Bio oil is nowt to do with it.

I got them from week 37 and was absolutely covered. But some people get none whatsoever.

I have some but they weren't from pregnancy they were from when I was younger so my body isn't flawless far from it.

Turtles may be right, but dd got them from weight gain and they faded a huge amount from Palmers cocoa butter serum. I and friends used the massage cream (same brand) and none of us got them.

You could still get them! I had none for ages then by the end of the pregnancy they stretched way above my belly button. The ones on my thighs came AFTER I had him because of water retention!!!

Good luck.

You might still get some I'm afraid. I got a lot bigger in the last few weeks.

My belly remained stretchmark free for some reason, but I have lots of my boobs.

They fade pretty quickly though, I wouldn't worry about it particularly.

I was clear until 4 days before dd was born - she had a party in my tummy overnight and I work up mortified. I think I was just unlucky though.

I was clear right up until my CS when I think all the tugging trying to get baby out gave me 1 on each side of my tum Sad

But they do fade quickly so try not worry too much....

i didn't get any last time out, but i was 38/39 for that pregnancy, and apparently that matters - saggy elderly skin good for something after all... Smile

I got to 37 weeks and thought I didn't have any, DD was born - and turns out I did, they were just on the underside of the bump. I guess you'll just have to wait till baby's born to know.

I got through the whole of my last pregnancy with none. Thought I had got away with it this time round. Looked at 39+2 (on Tuesday) - I have a fresh crop. Will serve me right for gloating. Don't count your chickens, OP

Thank you all for sharing your experince. As this is my first baby and my mum died when I was quite young, I didn't have anyone else to ask. I can now prepare myself for the possibilty that stretch marks may still happen. I'm just trying to prepare myself for any possible eventualities and could not get an answer to this question which thanks to your collective advice I finally have. I'm sorry if my question came across as 'boasting' but given that stretch marks are beyond our control (similar to whether or not you tear when you give birth) I had no concept it could bre read that way. Apologies for any unintended offence caused.

With both of mine I didn't have any until a couple of days before they were born, then I got quite a few.
Bio oil doesn't make any difference - I used it religiously in 1st pregnancy and didn't bother in the second one and had pretty much he same results.
I wouldn't worry though, they really don't show that much now they are a silvery colour and I have worn a bikini after both pregnancies (and I am quite vain body conscious!)
