I'm Sparkly, also from Sale, living in Sale (Moor, sssh!), I am 37 (sssh again!) and expecting our first on 14th December.
Trafford Centre sounds good, 13th Aug is in my diary - can we make it lunch, am hopeless in the evenings! Thanks for arranging Kri5ty!

Hi again! Count me in Kristy, the 13th is good for me.
I'm Vanessa, I live in Horwich, 38 years old. We (me and Stuart) are expecting our first on 2nd December. We had our 20 week scan on Monday, and am delighted to report that the little one looks to be healthy and well. During the scan, the baby was doing a tango and somersaults - would not keep still - it was great to watch, but I haven't felt it move yet. (The sonographer said that 50% of mums have felt movements at 20 weeks, and 50% haven't - so I'm not worried anymore.) It'll be great to meet up and share some experiences, because it's all these little things that get me a bit worried. :)

p.s. I work in Altrincham, so that's also nearly Sale. :)

Aww yay i wonlt be on my own :o

sparkly lunch is good for me too... i get super tired in the evenings! Where about in sale moor? I used to live off Broad road, near Moorlands school, until about 3 years ago.

oiMissus thank you sooo much for that, it will make me more relaxed knowing half of us wont have felt anything!

Hi all, I'm Bec, 31, expecting our first on 5th Dec.
I moved up to Sale last year but now living near Bolton. Trafford Centre is good for me and morning or lunch is better, that date is fine. Still don't know many people up here so looking forward to meeting you all!
Smile

Hi all

I'm Lindsay (36). Currently living in Chorlton, but soon to be moving to Heaton Mersey in Stockport. I'm expecting my second at the start of December (but first was very late so might be nearer Christmas time!)

Due to impeding house move I can't commit to 13th August just yet, but if I can make it then I'll be there.

Good to see we're getting a crowd going though!

Yey :) will try and make stuff work so I can make it!

I'm 24, expecting first in October! Am currently living in Derbyshire, but the DP is from Flixton and has a Utd Season ticket, and I ride a friends horses in Urmston so we'e back pactically evey weekend and during the week (when it's footie season lol). Plus his entie family live in Urmston/Flixton, so when baby arrives we'll be back regularly.

We're hoping to move there in the next 1-2 years, so it'd be nice to get to know people, as I'm from the North East, so don't know too many people in the area :)

Traff C. is very easy for me Grin

Morning ladies, Just posting to keep the thread active to attract more people to our manchester meet up. :)
Are you all still exercising? If you were exercising before? I dropped BodyCombat straightaway because my very tender boobs couldn't take all that bouncing (even with industrial strength shockabsorbers), but I'm still BodyPumping. After three weeks holiday, I've done two classes this week and am proud (or rather very smug) that even though I've dropped my weights loads, I'm still putting a lot of the class to shame. And I can still hold my Plank to the end!! (They are going to start hating me, aren't they? he he he!)

philippas haha i donlt think anyone will blame you for that!!
Congrats :) again

MissTriangl glad you can make it, it will be really nice getting to meet everyone!

collie i'm sure there will be others you can pop along to!!

Scheherezadea How are you finding not riding anymore? I miss it, although i stopped a few years ago when i broke my leg and never ended up getting back in to it... had a lesson booked just to get some confidence back... then i found out i was pregnant!!

OiMissus, my weight-lifting extends to slabs of cake if that helps Grin
Everyone sounds quite active, anyone a bit lazy and chubby like me?
I can picture myself in the Trafford Centre, gazing at you all through the window of Starbucks as you swap tales of toning regimes and pre-natal yoga, my horizontal striped maternity top covered in melted chocolate bottons, too shy to enter.....

kri5ty · 21/07/2011 09:17

oh dear me, no i havent done anything at all!!
I was always quite slim, so never bothered watching what i ate, or exercised... which i know i will regret post baby, as i am still doing the exact same now!!

I tried swimming when we were in spain at the weekend, but it felt as though i was pulling my stomach! And i have a pilates DvD for pregnancy... but have not done it!!

oiMissus you sound like you will know.... lol i have free weights that i used to use for my arms, are they still safe to use? Just worried i will lift them wrong!

Sparklywine you have me laughing out loud! Rest assured, that even though I exercise, it's through necessity rather than for the love of it. And since getting pregnant, I have eaten so much crap - cakes and sweets - that I'd never touch before! They've replaced the daily red wine and martini consumption. I'm 5'2" and "traditionally built". :)
Kristy free weights are fine and safe - if you do them properly. The thing is, even though you are exercising your arms, you need to use your abs to support your back - and controlling those abs when they are splitting and changing through pregnancy probably isn't so easy if it's not something you're used to. Really important is to concentrate your abs, keep your upper body still, and to move slowly with control and do not swing. (Lordy I sound like an instructor! ha!).
I haven't had any back pains yet, but apparently it's coming (for all of us) as the baby gets bigger - so the last thing you want to do is to injure your back now through exercise.
I've been looking for an ante-natal yoga class - that should help us protect our backs, but no luck yet. (I really do sound like a fitness freak, don't I? I'm not, honest!)

if you find any let me know... i should start, but i have never done yoga in my life and i am very unfit so i would just look like a blob!

Thats why i havent done any weights, as i know it will use my abs for it too! I used to have quite strong abs though... im just getting flabby triceps as i have been placed int he office as my usual job isn;t safe pregnant!
