Seriously bad cravings! (specifically chocolate)

Hey guys,

So I have been craving chocolate throughout my pregnancy and I even started a thread about it months ago to see if it was ok. Well it balanced out fine and my diet has not been all bad so I felt ok about it.

But, the last couple of weeks have been crazy chocolate fuelled days! I have eaten a massive family sized chocolate bar (the huge Cadbury's one's) within 24 hours. It has gotten to the point that all I can think about is chocolate and I feel like it is too much for my LO to handle (currently 28 weeks).

Today I tried to curb my cravings by eating something else whenever it got really bad but ended up eating so much my stomach hurt. Plus I seem to just feel hungry when I am craving chocolate so thought eating something else would satisfy the craving and get rid of it. I was wrong. And even then I had had an ice cream in the afternoon. I finally gave in and had some chocolate a little while ago and the feeling of hunger and craving has gone.

Is this weird? I am really worried about my chocolate intake right now as I can't seem to control it. Plus the fact that I actually feel hungry even though I am not till I eat a bit of chocolate.

Can the cravings really get this bad? Shock

Ok so just read this back and I must have been a bit tired and delirious when I wrote it in the wee hours Blush Grin

In short what I wanted to know is whether cravings can get so bad in pregnancy that you feel like you can't control them?

I have a friend who was like this about raw meat and who even loved the smell of it when she walked past a butchers shop Shock

Anyone else had cravings that got a bit out of control?

Well when pg with dd I ate 1-3 creme eggs a day. This time it's a certain ice lolly. I'm not 100% certain cravings exist just some you want badly and can excuse as you are pg.

I haven't had any real craving yet although I do seem to have a bit of a problem with icecream.....(had that before I was pregnant though)

The only thing that might be a little concerning is the caffeine in chocolate I guess, but then the jury is still out on whether that is a problem or not anyway.

As long as you are eating a varied diet as well then surely it can't be too worrying. Try not to stress about it too much as that's probably worse for you in the long run :)
