I am 28 weeks and have just been told my platlet count is a little low and need to go in and see a doctor in a few weeks about it.

I am due to have an anti-D injection tomorrow as i am rhysus neg.

Does anyone know if one will affect the other? i will let the mw know tomorrow before my injection, but i am concerned it is a random one, and she wont know.

thanks in advance for any help

Platelets are needed to help with clotting of blood. Anti-D mops up any D-antigen that may have crossed from your baby into your blood stream. I don't really think you have anything to worry about as they're not connected in any way.

I'm not a doctor, but I have read papers in the past that have shown that anti-D can help increase platelet count when taken intravenously. Yours will be intramuscular so there's an obvious difference there.

Definitely talk to your midwife. I am sure she will reassure you. Good luck!
