Help! Confused

I was told by the midwife that I was 9 weeks so she arranged for a scan at hospital for 12 weeks. I have just got the letter from the hospital for an appointment. It says its for a detailed history and the scan will be arranged for my next visit!!! Why would this happen? I gave all my details to the midwife at my first appointment and filled in 'green' form. I thought I was entitled for a 12 week scan, i want one. The next appointment will probably be weeks later (not to mention having to take more time of work). Is this normal? - or is it over stretch NHS at its best?

Just call and ask them could be a simple human error.

Just ring your midwife.

That's not unusual, where I live you have a booking in appointment at the hospital - bloods, forms, pick up your notes - and then your scan is a week later. Sure a call to the hospital will clear up what the procedure is at your local authority.

I had the same thing, first I went for a meeting with midwife, give blood and urine sample, blood pressure check and they gave me my maternity book/notes. About 4 days later I went for a so called "12 week" scan as they need blood results to be ready before hand. But I would also call and double check.

yes, i had my "booking in ap" at 11 weeks, then my scan at 13 and a half weeks(which was arranged at the booking in app)... just ring up and see if you can get an earlier app, explain how far along you are, maybe try ringing the hospital directly to see if they have an earlier apps x

Firstly don't worry about having time off work because you are entitled to do this when you are pregnant.
Why don't you just call the hospital and ask how long you will have to wait for the scan following your first appointment and if it is too long to wait them tell them your dates and explain.
It is more than likely just the procedure in your area and NOT the over stretched NHS!!!

I had an app with midwife at 10 weeks a hospital app at 13 weeks and a dating scan at about 16 weeks (it was a bit of a late scan as i had one at 7 weeks due to a bleed so waited a bit longer to book the offical dating scan) then an anomly scan at 20 weeks followed by a scan with my consultant at 24 weeks followed by a scan at 32 weeks due to another bleed.
