Why does nobody want to sell me a nursery furniture set?

Baby due in October but I thought I'd get some sort of nursery put together early so it was done.

Ordered a set from Argos in March, waited 8 weeks and were continually told one part of it was not available, so in the end we cancelled.

Ordered another set from CotWorld in May, they happily took over £800 off us but the stuff never turned up and when I went into TrackMyOrder it was marked Despatched and Discontinued Confused. Rang them and received the most appalling customer service I have EVER come across in my life, it seems they were going to keep our money, never deliver the stuff, never let us know this and hope we didn't notice! It will take them 7 days to refund my money but I won't hold my breath.

So much for trying to be organised.

Anyone know where I can get some matching furniture type stuff from? (I'm not really fussy but I hate going to 'real' shops so internet would be good even though we've had such a bad experience thusfar!

we got ours from mamas and papas and i have always had great customer care from them. We bought our pram for our first born from there 2 years ago and about 3 months ago the wheel broke, they sent it off to be repaired but unfortunatly lost it however they not only replaced the pram with a brand new one they gave us a brand new carrycot, car seat adaptors and changing bag to match. Needless to say i have bought everything i need this time round from there, including nursery furniture and a brand new pram for baby.

We got a nursery set from mamas and papas for £500 (called fern I think). It was the easiest flat pack to assemble I have ever seen, my dp put it all together himself (and believe me he is no diy king Grin)

Not just that I found the quality brilliant. We bought some bedroom furniture from Argos for our spare room and it's crap tbh

We got ours (a few years back for DD) from great universal catalogue - found the perfect set to fit with the cherry laminate, fabulous price and paid a little extra to have it all built up before delivery too. I couldn't fault the products or the service, but haven't shopped with them since DD was small as there wasn't anything else i needed that i couldn't get elsewhere cheaper!

No!! Never ever buy mamas and papas! Looks nice but rubbsih eg they don't sell cot barriers to stop child falling out of cot bed, on the grounds that 'bed is near enough to ground that it won't kill the child' . Yup. They actually said that to me.
I repeat, never ever buy anything from that shop, it looks beautiful but in reality is utterly useless and impractical

another vote for kiddicare. the next day delivery is brill, none of that waiting 10 million months for it to be delivered that a lot of places do, i never understood why they took so long to deliver.

M&P are a right rip off, it's all covered chipboard, none of it solid wood which is what i would expect for the extortionate prices they chardge for their stuff,

We bought the orchard range from m+P and i love it, it looks gorgeous and it was fairly expensive but i'd say worth every penny, i've always found their service great and their products hard wearing and practical i wouldn't shop anywhere else for baby items.
