24 hour nausea

As soon as I hit 7 weeks last week have started feeling sick all day long, even struggling to sleep as the sick feeling is waking me up. Sometimes eating helps a bit but only for 10 or 15 minutes. I am so happy to be pregnant after miscarrying last September & in some ways find this feeling reassuring but with an 8 & 5 year old to look after & get to school etc I was wondering if anyone has any ideas that could help. Also getting banging miagraines :o(

Congratulations on the pregnancy. I was the same as you but I can assure you it will pass. Try ginger biscuits and ginger and lemon tea it honestly worked for me before I couldn't keep food down.
I hope that helps x

Oh poor youSad Do you think you may have hyperemisis (sp?) ?
This is a condition that happens in about 2% of pregnanacies but it is exactly as you have described - constant nausea with the inability to keep anything down at all. Many ladies are hospitalised in order to be put on a drip to avoid dehydration. I suffered from this with my DD and you have my heartfelt sympathies. Please don't worry though this does not affect the baby at all. I am v v new to mumsnet but I am sure there will have been previous posts about this. Good luck, I will keep checking your post to see how you are doing Smile

Thank you, I'm going to get the Ginger biscuits & tea tomorrow. I'm not actually being sick just feeling like im going to all the time. I volunteer for Homestart helping a mum with twins on Mondays & I'm wondering how I will play with the boys without heaving every 5 minutes. I find that even if I Kay down i feel like I've just got off a rollercoaster. Funny how I used to love that feeling! Lol x

squiglett if you start being sick and struggling to keep water down, you may have hyperemersis, I was hospitalised at 7.5 weeks to be put on a drip, I'm now on anti sickness medication, I am hardly sick now on the meds, but I still have 24 hour sickness, so my sympathies are with you. I didnt find anything to do with ginger helped me, in fact the thought made me want to throw up. Sea bands from boots helped for a couple of weeks, but now I just eat when I can, and anything I want (which isnt alot) and is normally very un healthy! But around 7 weeks I found nibbling nuts and raisins helped or ice lollies, we have a thread for hyperemersis support if you think this might help? :)

Thank you angel. Going to try the bands tomorrow aswell. I an sure I was like this with my DD who is almost 9 now & sure it got better by 16 weeks. I keep reading that it is a sign of a healthy pregnancy & I'm so scared of misscarrying again that I don't want to complain too much so just trying to go with it. Jam sandwiches help but banana milkshake doesn't, just found that out the hard way! Wish you well in all your pregnancies & I'm going to have a look at that thread xxx
