Reduced Feeling of Movement - 20 Weeks

I know this may sound quite silly for not being very far along but I'm starting to really worry about how oftem I'm feeling the baby move about. It was quite active for a while and now I can't remember the last time I felt anything. I know it may just be hiding in some unknown recess but has anyone else had this?

I've got my 21weeks scan next week and we don't have a maternity unit where I live. I don't know whether just to hold out or if there's anything I can try?

Probably just being paranoid cause of all those stories like Amanda Holden and Kelly Brook, but because it's my first I think I may be overreacting?

Any advice would be amazing.

If you're worried phone your midwife. You will never be made to feel like you're wasting time.

I agree. Phone the day assessment unit and see if they will see you. They can put a fetal heart monitor on you and check all is OK.

Hey there, I had a complete freakout last week after my LO hadn't moved for about 4 days, I am 25 weeks.

Don't panic like I did, if you are worried call your midwife as others have said.

With my midwife she just advised me to go to my Obstetric Assessment unit as it is always better to get checked out than worry and I was also advised to do that on here.

My LO was abosolutely fine and I had great support from the other ladies on here which I still appreciate as It can be super scary at times, but all was well.

Good luck! Smile

Always, always get it checked. DD1 would be still for hours but this pg is twin and they move lots, react to hot drinks etc. On Wednesday they hadn't moved for 2 hours and I called the labour ward - feeling a bit daft but still wanted reassurance. They told me to see how it went and call back 2 hours later. Then they told me to go in so they could check the hbs. Of course, by the time I got there they were jumping around.

They gave me a chart to fill in but I work and have a 3-year-old so finding a pen and the form is not always easy. I ended up buying a count the kicks braclet (it was £4.50) it's just like the charity rubber bands with a counter thing on it. I really like it as I know it'll reassure me. They told me I'd done the right thing and if it happens again then I must call them. At no point did they make me feel like I was wasting their time.

If you can't get to the mw unit, your GP should be able to listen to the hb. They like you to have 10 movements a day - but that might be later on in the pg. I'm 27w.

I'm 20 weeks and am finding the kicks really variable day to day, which is a little worrying, but I think it's supposed to be absolutely normal at this early stage, because like you say they have so much room in there. I just found a website that suggests counting kicks is appropriate after either 26 or 28 weeks (so by implication you can't expect much of a pattern earlier): www.countthekicks.me/HowToCounttheKicks/HowTo/tabid/64/Default.aspx

I agree, if in doubt give the MWs a call....

...My experience is patchy on movement! Couldn't be 100% sure I felt him move until around 20 weeks. Then not everyday. I has only been from about 26 weeks that I have regular movement to monitor and still some days are far more active than others! I find going to bed always wakes him up!
