BFP or BFN??

DH and I are TTC for baby 1. I am not due till Monday but couldn't wait anymore so took a pg test last night and this morning. Both times there was a definite vertical line and also a very, very, very, very faint horizantal line. Is this a positive or not? I don't think the lines were the exact same width and the pg test says they must be. Am I clutching at straws (or pregnacy tests!) ??? I've had v. sore, full boobs and Weds night I had cramping all afternoon and into evening which I was convinced was AF on its way, but since then nothing...

Hiya, it does sound positive but beware - I had "false positives" with the cross type of pg test. False positives are meant to be virtually impossible but the cross types are a bit notorious for the dye bleeding across.

Try the Poundland PG tests, I found them to be the most sensitive and accurate or you could try First Response - they are slightly more pricey but also v. good.

First instincts though make me think you probably are pg - good luck!!

www.peeonastick.com is a really good website for more info... x

Thank you for the advice ladies, it's so difficult! I should really have waited till Monday because now my hopes are up! I will try again on Monday to be sure....I really, really, really hope it is positive!

Maybe splash out on a Clear Blue digital? At least there's definitely no interpretation of lines needed that way!

I think interpretation of lines is half the fun!! Hehe

Dare I say it, if you can get your hands on a Pounland test I'd get a few and test over the weekend too or any kind of test regardless how expensive - but then I am a testaholic! I just know that it's a veeeeery long wait till Monday otherwise!

So long as you're 10 days or more past ovulation you have a good chance of getting a positive result... I'm dying to know how it goes!

I also had a very, very, very faint line on my preg test and I am now 23 weeks pregnant with DC2!!! I tested a day or 2 before AF was due.....I tested nearly every day for a week and the line slowly got darker! :)
I thought it wasnt a BFP because with my DS I tested when AF was a week late but got a very dark line!!
Congratulations!!! Grin

does it look like this ?

mine had a stronger down line than across line.

no, nickelbabe, it was much, much fainter than that and the vertical line was much clearer than the horizontal. hmmmm, really unsure and I think I am getting those AF cramps again, maybe.... it's definitely not time to celebrate yet!

well, you could always go and get some more tests....

I got AF-like cramps for about 4 weeks!

If you do get a CB digital and it says "not pregnant" dont be disheartened as they are not as sensitive as other tests, I dont think they are good until at least when AF is due or afterwards. Good luck! I would recomend Superdrugs own tests.

VCS how did you get on?

turns out it was a BFN as AF came yesterday! from now on i am sticking to digital tests. Trying not to be too disappointed as only been ttc1 for 1 month really, but it is still upsetting. Onwards and upwards!
