I've tried ginger and eating lying down in the morning before getting out of bed. And snacking. And sipping water. I feel wretched. The only thing I can do is lie still. And I really do have to go to work. Is there anything anyone can suggest? Desperate.

Oh god this was me. Low blood sugar really makes it worse so eat whatever you can face as often as you can manage. Sucking fruit pastilles was a good tip I got.

But really you need to rest and get through it. My work was understanding even though it was NOT good for them. Do you have occupational health department? I think they helped my department realise it floors some people.

Go see your gp if its very frequent as you can get medication.

Something I read on here as well - lie on the floor and cry about how unfair it is. Really helped!

In my experience there isnt much you can do - with both my pregnancies I've had a couple of weeks where I havent really been able to eat at all.

In both cases I've had to have time off work - why do you have to go? Do you only get SSP or something?

You also need to go to the doctors if you are unable to take much liquid. I had anti-sickness meds this time and they did help a bit.

You have my total sympathy :( I'm just coming out of that period at 11 weeks. Sickness was constant but is now reserved for first waking and when I'm hungry or tired. First thing in the morning, DH brings me a glass of chocolate milk. Sounds odd but it really helps get rid of that first sickness.

I really wish I could wave a wand. It's utterly horrible and people who aren't or haven't been through it have no idea how horrible and debilitating it is.

Amd agree about going to the GP and pushing it if necessary. I had a chat with mione and she admitted that doctors don't take it seriously. But there has apparently been an article in one of the medical journals stressing the doctors should take it seriously and that there is medication that can be described.

Yeah I got an appointment with the one who was hospitalised herself with hg - but probably most people dont have that option.

You must go to your gp. Mine was lovely and gave me avomine (I couldn't keep water down, only slow melting ice cubes and NHS direct told me off as that wasn't enough Blush).

I was still off work sick for a few more days while I rested and started to eat little bits of food again but it got me through the worst of it.

Definitely go to the GP. I posted pretty much the same message a week or so ago because I had similar symptons - nausea all day, throwing up 6-10 times, feeling dizzy and just starting to lose weight through dehydration I think - and everyone encouraged me to go to the GP, which I am so grateful for. I ended up phoning the emergency doc as it was the weekend and got a lovely doc who prescribed me cyclizine, which is working ok (he was actually shocked that I had seen both a GP and a nurse during the week who shrugged me off). I won't lie and say that I'm fighting fit but I can at least get through the day and keep most food down and even that feels a million miles better.

I know everything says that being so sick won't hurt the baby but it probably is hurting you right now, and that is more than enough reason to see your GP and be pushy. This could go on for a while and you really can't spend the next few weeks lying in bed, slowly losing weight and possibly ending up in hospital. GPs here are cautious but the current anti-sickness meds seem to be fine, lots of people say they have had them and their babies are absolutely fine. If the first GP won't listen then see another one or try the out-of-hours. Failing that, if you feel utterly wretched and are struggling to keep liquids down then take yourself off to the hospital.

Good look, and let us know how you get on Smile
