Am 24 wks and have the flu. I also have a super active 17mo to look after and DH can't/won't take the day off to look after him. Phoned doc and she said to take paracetamol to help. Has anyone else taken it during prg? She said it was safe but I just wanted to check. Also did you just take the usual dose?
Thanks for your help!

I took it a couple of times for headaches and was fine, just the usual recommended dose x

I took the full dose for a few days back in March due to an awful chest and throat infection and this was recommended by the doc. But, and I know this is obvious, make sure you don't exceed the upper daily dose. Hope you feel better soon.

Paracetemol is ok, but avoid asprin and Ibuprofen. You Doctor is medically trained though, s oI'd trust her over unqualified anonymous internet people - even if it is MN!

Yep I've also been told paracetamol but only taken when I really need it.

I'm 20 weeks and also had the flu this week (subsiding a litte now) so my sympathies. Above all else keep hydrated, hot Ribena is my life saver.

Thanks all have taken some so hopefully will start helping soon. I agree if doc says its fine to trust them but just having some irrational hormonal fear of taking it!! Thanks for the good advice :)

Just avoid the all in one cold remedies, as they have got decongestant in them as well which isn't recommended

I was prescribed paracetamol a couple of weeks ago when I was discharged from hospital so I am guessing it is fine as long as you follow the guidelines on the instructions and only take the recommended amount.

I was specifically told by my GP to take paracetamol with the flu as its the temp that can cause MC. Far safer to take one or two as needed than to risk that... I was first trimester though...

Yes all medical experts recommend paracetamol it is in fact the only option tghat everyone agrees on! People with spd often have to take it all day every day in irder to move without being in agony. I had flu at start and was also told that the temp etc is much more dangerous than paracetamol.

paracetamol is fine

you can have ibuprofen in the 2nd trimester as well, so at 24 weeks you can take that too if necesary
