Hi, looking for any other mtb who is suffering with placenta previa & possibly bleeding like me. I have been diagnosed last week after a massive bleed, before that felt a1. Feeling very frustrated, worried, paniced now. Still bleeding dont want to go back to hospital incase they keep me in & away from my kiddies. What to do ??!!!

I had a bleed at 17 weeks, but it was not placenta previa.
I really think you should phone the labour ward, and just discuss it with somebody there. They will know what they are talking about, and understand you would rather not come in, and they will only ask you to come in if they really think it is necessary.
Has the bleeding eased up much?

deo, if your bleeding continues, you must go back in, even if it just for monitoring.

I had grade4 PP with DS2, diagnosed at 25 weeks when DS1 was 10 months old. After the 2nd big bleed they kept me in until DS2's delivery at 31 weeks.
Yes, it was very worrying and scary. And a nightmare to organise somebody to look after DS1 so DH could continue working (after he had recovered from the shock. I think he was even more frightened for my safety and that of the baby than me as I felt v well looked after in hospital).
I bled several times, was delivered as a bleed would not stop after more than 12 hours and on delivery it became apparant that the placenta had begun to come away from the uterine wall (placental abruption) which could have been fatal for DS2 if I hadn't been in hospital hooked up to all manner of monitoring equipment.

I have no intention of needlessly frightening you, but you MUST take this seriously. How much bleeding you are seeing on the outside does not necessarily reflect how much you are bleeding inside.

Get yourself checked out. Very best of luck to you.

Oh my goodness go and get checked! A little bleed can turn into a major one very very quickly! Not only are you putting baby at risk but y ourself too!! I have grade 4 too and my midwife said if you start bleeding it's 999 as you can hemearage very quickly, I'm 28 weeks now and have escaped having a bleed so far, but I have put a plan in place in case anything does happen and I'm in hospital for a few weeks, who can take my girlies on what day, school pickups, after school clubs, child minders on emergency placements, and bags packed etc! Although I have got to 28 weeks and havn't bled, I have a feeling it must of moved as everyone I speak to with this has bled!
I do feel for you, but hospital is the best place to be if your going to bleed, they may need to top your blood up too! Please get checked, and let us know how you get on! X x good luck

How are you today, deo? Did your bleeding stop? And did you get yourself checked out?

Hope everything is ok

Deo, how are things? Feel for you. I am 34 weeks tomorrow and just had two nights in hosp being monitored because of contraction type pains with placenta previa, no bleeding but confection type pains and tightenings. As the others say, I've also been told never ignore any bleeding, call emergency to get there immediately and any pain and tightenings to go up straight away incase you're in early labour. I had my scan at 33 weeks preg and placenta hadn't moved. They have said will need section but persuaded them to scan me again at 36+5. also have spd and so struggling with that too. Keep us all updated x

Dear all, how you all doing gang?! I have since been in hospital a week after being admitted with a bleed, was a fairly small one by previa standards apparently but still scary. Saw consultant and now in until I have section at 39 weeks. Am 36 tomorrow, was admitted at 34+4. Had two more bleeds whilst in hospital which have mow shown me that as much as I miss my family, hubby and little girl loads, it's better to be on site. Keep struggling to come to terms with the unpredictability..., so frightened of the bleeds. What's other peoples bleed patterns with pp 35+ weeks? Really appreciate your comments and how you cope too!!!! Xx

Oh cmm, I know it's scary and a horrible thing to endure, but you are in the right place for anything happening!! I'd feel 100 times more comfortable being in hospital than at home! I'm dreading having a bleed! Only had bleeds at 8 weeks which I don't think you can count and a smear of blood the other day which isn't a good sign! As I said on the other thread, I can't believe they wait till 39 weeks! What hospital are you at? Are they treating you well? Do you have family support, bringing you meals etc? Is this your first pregnancy?

Start yourself a new thread cmm, you'll get more support from people instead of piggybacking someone elses!! I'm sure you'll have heaps of messages!! I'll follow you all the way to the end! Big hugs x x x

poor u cmm, shame u stuck in hospital now, but prob best at this late stage. i cant believe they are waiting til 39 either. They have delivered my last 2 at 37 just so i dont go into labour. what hosp u at? i have been told already it will be 37 AT THE LATEST, delivery for me. i have no bleeding at all now which is good. went for scan on thurs & def got placent accreta too as well as the previa & a subchronic hemetoma @ top of sac? dont know much about them (did have a little look on google) not good, but that is basically a bleed. they measure it & if gets bigger then we need to worry. feel like i have EVERYTHING wrong this pregnancy, very depressing!! keep in touch, as i keep having to "rest" i am on here browsing more than ever reading everyones stories.

Cmm - oh and what i have read on a link that someone put on here somewhere was that in the "royal college of obstet handbook for dealing with PP" is that they look to deliver from 34 because it is hard to deliver quickly with PP as getting thru placenta slows down the section . So i reckon if you wanted to you could push for a sooner delivery.

Dear all, thank you so much for all your comments. So supportive, really appreciate it. Have been so emotional but feel better today.the reason for 39 is the nice guidelines for paediatrics, so they are reluctant to do earlier for this reason, however will depend on the bleeds. Have lots of family and friend support though which is great, but just thought it would be do interesting to hear others of you with pp! Will do what you suggest and start a new thread!!!! Thanks again, do feel less tearful today xx

Deo - that's good you have a plan!!! Be great if it moves on next scan!
Waiting to see consultant today, lady bleed a week ago but tightenings two days ago and some more yesterday; turned out to be braxton but regular and caused then concern. Lots of mw's in hosp are saying 37-38 reasonable, my consultant was saying 39 but haven't seen her since last bleed and tightenings. Hope I get a date soon. It is scary thinking of next bleed and tightenings ate scary ad, like in the middle of the night the other day, of I start to dilate then they have to do section quickly. Such a rollercoaster if emotion! Generally feel brighter and although don't like being in hosp (it's been two weeks now) I wouldn't want to be at home and this happening! Xx

cmm - u r so brave, i couldnt cope with being in the hospital away from my kids at all. how much blood do u loose in a bleed then (hope u dont mind me asking) is it pouring?? what hospital u in? do u have other kids ?

my placenta def will NOT move i know that, she has told me that as i have accreeta too where is buries itself into womb. glad i got a plan as i was thinking they may delivery at 30 or something which is a whole different ball game for babe.

Deo - have had three bleeds so far, not sure how muchni lode but apparently not big by previa standards. Basically, and apologies with tmi!!, dribble, then usually a couple of gushes them change pad about every twenty/thirty mins for about 4 hours. It isn't soaking or like a tap, so hope they keep lower, still really scary though. Still losing old blod though a week later and some diff loss today which is, when tightening again, they were getting concerned, but it had settled. They think baby trying to engage and obviously can't. Have one little girl, do miss her loads, have her pic in my room and see her each day. Hubby is really hands on too and have lots of friends. The section is booked for a week on weds unless I have probs before. Will be 38+2. How you doing?
