growth scan and weight prediction

How accurate were those who had them? I've just had one at 33 weeks and the weight was predicted at the time to be 4 and half lbs. I guess that puts this one to be around 8-9lbs at full term.

Feeling slightly pleased at this as ds was 9lbs 5.5oz and was anticipating a 10+lber! I now think maybe I shouldn't get to reliant on this rather unpredictable method of birth weight!

What happened with you?

Yes I too had a scan around 32 weeks and was told high 9's and ended up with an 8lb 4oz baby. Not very accurate at all. Sorry

Well here's hoping it's lighter as all yours were, that would be even better Grin I don't mind a big baby at all, just got fed up with MIL last time saying things like 'oh, he doesn't look like a newborn does he' and him being referred to as 'tank' by dh!

Scan st 31 weeks put my ds1 at 7lb 9oz at that time and he was born at 38 weeks weighing 10lb 8oz. So mine was pretty accurate.

The sonographers normally assume that they might be out by 5 oz either way...but obviously sometimes they are nowhere near?!

I had a growth scan done by my consultant at 32 weeks- she has predicted baby to be around 9lbs at full term. I am 38+ wks now, so should be finding out soon if she was right! Not sure if the skill of the person doing the scan has anything to do with the level of accuracy...?

I had a growth scan yesterday and when I asked if they could estimate the weight they old me they have stopped doing that because it is so inaccurate. All I found out was that he is average.
