I just found out, am due December. First baby. No clue about anything! But pretty excited!

FirstTimeMummyToBe Fri 15-Apr-11 10:33:25

Hi

Im due december too found out 2 weeks ago i am pregnant was totally shocked but now getting excited

This is my first too

any symptoms yet?

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 10:35:58

Nausea and a weird sort of 10 minutes of exhaustion every night at 8pm. That started within days of implantation. I didn't realise symptoms could come on so fast! Also lots of cramping. In fact thought was getting my period, but the cramping has been for a few days now... really hope it ISN'T my period and isn't a 'chemical pregnancy' or whatever they are called. But I am taking the line that I am going to be excited and optimistic and not worry about something going wrong. Time enough for that if it does. Not going to tell anyone though. Still haven't told husband as away until Saturday. Is SO hard to keep to myself as pretty excited - but want to be there when I tell him.

how about you? any symptoms? Are you clued in on it? I must get a book and do some reading. And go to the doctors!

Hello

I should be due round about the 6th. Still can't quite believe it yet. Trying not to fret about the next few weeks.

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 10:51:54

Yeah me too! I am sort of worried about getting really really excited and then having a let down but it's hard not to and I don't want to be really negative either ...

LB1982 Fri 15-Apr-11 10:55:58

Hello mopsy FirstTime and Teacup.

I'm a first too. Found out 2 weeks ago today and will be 6weeks on Tuesday Me and my other half are over the moon My due date is 13 December.

My oh has a little girl who is 2.5 so I have a tiny bit of experience (been in her life since she was 1) but I've only changed her wet nappy 3 times lol.

TeacupTempest Fri 15-Apr-11 10:59:24

It still doesnt seem real. I keep asking DH if there could be a mistake and maybe there is something else inside me.....not sure what exactly!

I also keep getting excited and thinking " Yay! lets crack open the champers.......um actually lets not!"

FirstTimeMummyToBe Fri 15-Apr-11 11:06:30

I have had everything i think mopsytop constantly tired. nausea, huge sore boobs, sore back!

I have not read alot but stay away from google i have sent myself into so much worry reading things on there

TeacupTempest i know the feeling i keep thinking i am imagining it and at the scan there isnt going to be anything there

my doctor thinks i am 7 weeks but i think i am further on i think 10/11 weeks. Have my first midwife appointment on the 27th so hope i will get a better idea then!

congratulations everyone

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:26:41

Congrats everyone! Yay!
Yeah LB1982 I hear you re: the nappies. Not the enjoyable bit - not looking forward to that!!!
Teacup it doesn't seem real for me either AT ALL! Just discussing future job prospects with my boss and couldn't tell her I was preg, although it will impact on the project we were discussing - eeeekkk! I also thought the same this morning re: champagne. 9 months of no booze - ugh!
FirstTime hope it gets better not worse! I only have nausea and tiredness so far. Boobs fine, although last week one of my friends actally said 'your boobs look huge, maybe you are pregnant' !!!

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 11:34:00

Hey everyone! I'm due 18th December and it's my first too :0) v excited. Congrats to you girls -hope you're not suffering too much. I was lucky to get an appt with my doc yesterday ( the day I found out) and she said to hold off buying any books cos you are given lots of free ones. Saying that, am totally gonna stock up when I've been paid! Doc was talking about where I should have the baby and our local hopsital doesn't have access to epidurals -screw that!!! Seems mad to be starting to think about that stuff yet. Do you girls have any idea what you're gonna do? Wish one born every minute was still on tv!

TheFantasticFixit Fri 15-Apr-11 11:38:00

Hello everyone, can I join in too <twirls>

I'm 7 weeks, 8 on Tuesday and due 30 November (I know not technically , although I fully expect to be delivering mid December (My family's babies get very comfy and ALL have been late!)

So very very excited for this first baby!

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:39:06

I have been watching OBEM obsessively. no idea re: labour, not even thought that far ahead at all! Think I will just stick my head in the sand and ignore it. On the other hand, these child bearing hips of mine have to have SOME purpose aside from being the bane of my life (and wardrobe) for the past 15 years!

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 11:43:18

Lol! OBEM does have the same effect as watching a horror film though don't you think?! Congrats to the fantastic fixit btw! Great news! My name is Kate FYI feels bit weird being called wiwa....head in sand sounds like a plan!

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:45:35

hi Fantastic - yay congrats! Isn't it exciting! I know OBEM is like a real-life horror show! It's so funny though! Did you see the one with the really lovey-dovey couple - the one who was singing - VOMIT! I really hope I can control myself and not be screaming the house down but I doubt it somehow!!!!

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 11:47:51

Ps have any of you guys been watching any pregnancy Vlogs on you tube? They are quite addictive. There's a lovely American girl called carla bubble lush or something like that. Her blogs start at ttc then from4 weeks to present and she has a baby girl. It was exciting to see her logging about being where i' at now and then fast forwarding to9 months down the line. Do you girls have any preference/ intuition about what sex your baby is yet?

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:50:21

Oh I might look it up! I have no preference at all apart from healthy! I drank quite a bit the first week (we were on hols) and as we had just started trying it didn't even occur to me I might be preg! I had a fair few cocktails etc. I'd say I drank every night for the first 10 days of the pregnancy. Bit worried about it but decided to chill about it, because as soon as I started feeling nauseous I stopped - even though I thought there could be NO way I was preg only 2 weeks after starting to try! And lots of people seem to do the same thing, so as long as don't from now on I think it will be ok. but it is slightly worrying ...

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 11:52:15

Yes I did see that one - totally sick -making. Did you see the poor girl with no teeth? Think I'm gonna try some yoga in the run up to help chill me out. Prob will be like one of the total potty mouth mums though, shouting obscenities and demanding drugs...... I ought to stop -I'm really freaking myself out! !

TheFantasticFixit Fri 15-Apr-11 11:52:46

Haha I am SO going to do all that when I first go in to the Labour ward (is that even right?! Dunno) and start being all 'hunnybunny, would you pass me a tissuewissue' (if you knew me you would know that is SO not my style haha) and then rapidly ramp it up to 'You BASTARD! How could you DO THIS TO ME?!' Just for the shocked faces! That couple on OBEM were AWFUL, absolutely bloody cringeworthy!

I've picked my hospital and am going for the Queen Charlotte in Hammersmith. Over the moon that I got my first choice (now THERE is a reason to go to the GP as soon as you have a BFP!)I used a website to compare hospitals in the area, although i had heard excellent things about QC anyway. And for goodness sake, WIWA; I was AGHAST that hospitals didn't offer epidurals. What on earth would you resort to?!

Congrats to you all and a big thanks to Mopsy for starting the thread!(and my name is Kate too!!)

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:53:47

I'd say don't even worry about it for 6 months! It has to be got through anyhow and you'll get through it somehow! I am doing yoga too! And lots of walking as apparently the fitter you are the better!

TheFantasticFixit Fri 15-Apr-11 11:54:13

By the way, is anyone 'showing' already; I defo have a 'bump' and although my rational mind tells me that it is bloating and water retention, I starting to secretly wonder if it is twins now...

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:56:01

Not a single outward sign. My friend's remark re: boobs was actually just cos I put on weight the past year and am a pit podge! I am annoyed as wanted to lose a stone before getting preg. Now that idea is squashed. But healthy eating, no booze and lots of walking should anyway make me healthier and fitter, if not trimmer. Although to be honest, the no booze thing should make me drop a few pounds I'd say!

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 11:56:18

Hey don't worry. I'm sure it happens like that to most women really. I'd been drinking a couple of glasses of wine each night until recently. I was also worried because the day before I found out ( wed) I dyed my hair and used some veet hair removal creme and was all worried about that! I think I'm gonna have a girl.

mopsytop Fri 15-Apr-11 11:58:50

God girls, I haven't even THOUGHT about hospitals! Argh! all these things to think about! Also, I work away during the week (only until end August luckily!) about 2.5 hours away, so not sure what to do re: doctor's appointments - will have to do them here I suppose for first half. But how will I choose hospital? And won't have any continuity with midwives! Argh logistical nightmare!!

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 12:02:29

Blimey the fantasticfixit (dude can I call you Kate?!) you are super organised- your post made me chuckle with the Jekyl
and Hyde routine! I already played the 'but I'm pregnant' card with my husband yesterday and got him to dish up dinner gonna milk this one for all it's worth! My tummy feels bloated and my waist generally thicker goodbye figure.....

Wiwa Fri 15-Apr-11 12:06:25

Hey mopsytop. I am equally clueless about hosptials. It all feels a bit early tbh! As long as I have access to strong pain relief, I'm easy. Doc said I could have baby in the large, city hops and then come to local to recuperate. Sounds like a plan. I think your MW will clear it all up for you. I'm hoping mine will in 4 weeks when I see her.
