Assuming you had a scan at about 12 weeks? 16 weeks will be quite boring in comparison, so don't get your hopes up! And don't fret it about going alone, likely to be fairly brief TBH.

They'll check your blood pressure, test your urine for blood sugar levels (remember to wee in a pot when you get there to take in with you) and take your bloods (I think).

I wasn't weighed. And mine wouldn't listen for HB because even at 16 weeks it can be hard to detect HB with doppler. My place don't like to panic people, so don't do it. But I pleaded and said I wouldn't have a melt down if we couldn't hear it Grin...as I could feel baby kicking anyway.

Hope it goes well!

Hi yeah had a 12 wk scan. I haven't had any wee samples taken yet, to be honest mw is useless! Hasn't told me what I need to do/bring to every appt!
I would like mw to try to find hb so will plead with her as I have sign of a bump at all and getting worried. Im not keen on mw ( totally unable to contact her when I need too and she doesn't help me at all- will be complaining at next doc appt as having a few thanks to mw being useless!) would like DH there to make me relax as mw gets me wound up and DH would ask questions I want to ask . He is really positive as I'm a negative person.
I would just like to look and feel pregnant x

Mine did start using the doppler to find the heartbeat at my 16w appointment and had no problem finding it. It really was just urine, BP, feel uterus, doppler for heartbeat.

I started to look pregnant, rather than just a bit chubby, at around 17w. I know what you mean about wanting to look pregnant and have a bump - though I'm already (19w) starting to see/feel the downsides!

Thanks urbandaisy for the info. I wonder if anythings changed uterus wise as feels no different to me:-(
Best get myself a sample pot then! I'm scared of her trying to find hb, will try and get DH to come with me as don't like the mw appts and he is such a good positive person x

I had mine at hospital yesterday, the mw did get a heartbeat and it was nice and clear. However my community midwife in previous pregnancies won't try until after 18 weeks due to it sometimes being difficult and distressing for the mother if they can't find it.

Apart from that, wee sample, BP and chat.

I am the opposite with my previous 2 pregnancies I started showing after 6 months really. This time, when I would quite happily like to show after 6 months, I am looking pregnant, big bump already and I am only 16 weeks. When I am pushing my 6 month old the last thing I need is the judgemental looks when people see a bump.

I wouldn't worry too much about not looking pregnant yet, especially with your first.

I just had my 16 week. We did blood pressure, urine sample, uterus feel, heartbeat. Had a little chat about birth choices (I'm booked with homebirth midwives). That was it.
