Help!

I just eaten what felt like probably a tonne of chocolates and chocolate ice cream and now having the hugest guilty pangs. I'm 32 weeks and have been suffering a lot of stress and the hands of my work and yesterday and today have broken the limit of my frustration at them, resulting in an excessive binge.

(trying to argue with work for basic maternity rights such as paid time off for antenatal care, they're cutting my wage unlawfully, and I have a standing job and they don't want to provide me with a chair to sit down on if I need to rest, expect me to carry large crates, if I need to clean something I gotta use an industrial strength cleaner..oh the list is endless... talking to a lawyer but thats another topic)

How can I find ways of coping with this stress without exploding? I'm so upset at the moment, how much does this all effect my LO?

Please help me...

First off your employer is breaking the law (as you know, but am bit speechless at how they are treating you!) & good for you getting legal advice. Hope it gets sorted.

Second I have been known to inhale a whole tube of Pringles from time to time during this pregnancy, so don't feel bad. Healthy eating can always start again tomorrow.

nomoreheels thanks for your pringles confession!!...mmm pringles... they're sounding quite attractive to me at the moment, I think I'll go check the cupboard. Totally agree, healthy eating can start from tomorrow, and thats 5 hours away!

By the sounds of it you are perfectly justified in eating all the chocolate you can get your hands on. And some ice cream for good measure.

Your employer should be making things easier for you, not causing you more stress. It's shocking that you're having to fight to get the basic maternity rights that many people in this country (including me) probably take for granted. I cannot believe they won't even give you a chair Shock

I hope you get what you entitled to and if not - take em to the cleaners! Best of luck with it all!

I just ate 10 fab ice Lollies and 2 cheese wraps ( 22 weeks) don't worry! It is really easy to loose the weight after baby arrives!

Take legal advice and fight for your rights, they sound like right twunts!

Your work sound like bastards! hope the lawyer kicks them into touch.

I always find exercise a great stress relief, obviously that's not as easy as it used to be! but I do yoga a couple of times a week & an aqua-natal class which help. Even walking to the shop (to buy more chocolate) might help?! I also listen to some meditation podcasts or relaxing music when I'm going to sleep which helps interrupt any annoying thoughts going round my head!

New day new chance for a healthier day today? Nooooo!! Cocopops for breakfast and a nutella crepe! At least Cocopops is fortified! :O

Latest from work, and I quote: " It has never been our intention to have you resting on a chair, therefore you will not be provided with a chair for your rest breaks"

Last week, Occupational Health Therapist Report: "Mona needs a chair to sit and and frequent rest breaks in an adequate rest area because of a pelvic condition known as SPD whereby prolonged standing can cause her difficulties"

Lawyer says: - (actually she's physically speechless by the absurdity of it all)

Mamamona says: Need more chocolate

Will be taking all of your lovely ladies advice! bessie26 started yoga on wednesday, and looked like a heffalump on a bowl of jelly but it was wonderful!

Will keep all of you posted, thanks for making me smile!!

Although it is a bit of a cop out in terms of getting your employer to act within the law, I am 100% sure your GP would sign you off for a while for stress reasons (and maybe even the SPD) if you went in and tearfully explained your working conditions and the affect they are having on you! Maybe talk to your lawyer about any impact getting signed off in that way would have on the legal case? It sounds horrendous and shocking that a business in the UK in 2011 thinks they can treat a heavily pregnant woman that way - are they a very small business who think the law doesn't apply to them?

Good luck, and don't feel bad about the chocolate etc. sounds like you need it!
