Sleeping on my back? 36 weeks

I am getting a little worried because I keep waking up in the morning and its obvious I have been sleeping on my back. When I wake in the night I try and sleep on one side of the other (I know that the left side is best, but baby seems lodged on my left side, so am trying to sleep more on my right to push it to the middle).

But is it really dangerous to sleep on my back?

It can be a problem if it compresses a big vein, but it depends on whereabouts everything is - I physically couldn't lie on my back because it made me feel dizzy and sick, if I rolled onto my back in the night I woke up! I think if you can lie on your back with feeling any ill effects then it's probably not being compressed.

I asked my MW about this when I was pg because I kept finding myself sleeping on my back (and also almost on my front quite often Hmm ) and she said if it was having any ill effects, you'd feel it and it would definitely wake you up.

What she suggested was to sleep on one side and put a pillow behind my back so I just couldn't lie fully flat on my back.

It depends on how you feel. If you are not dizzy, then it's ok...
