Anyone else get 'evening' sickness with no 'morning' sickness?

Hi Ladies,

Just wondered if anyone else suffers evening sickness with no 'morning' sickness. I know morning sickness can occur all day long (sorry to those who suffer!), but I wake up feeling pretty much fine, might feel a bit nauseous if I dont eat breakfast quickly, and lunch at midday, but its the late afternoon/evening I start to really feel grotty. But the time by husband has cooked my dinner (yes i'm a lucky lady) I just can't face eating it. I'm only 9 weeks, and I remember feeling like this much later on in my previous 2 pregnancies (from 20 weeks onwards). I though preg hormones are at their highest first thing, so no idea why I feel so grotty last thing in the day...anyone else suffer the same?

I'm struggling similarly this time round. I'm 8 weeks and feel relatively ok in the morning until just after lunch after which I'm exhausted, nauseous and have no appetite. I find it really difficult to even think of cooking supper and fall asleep on the sofa by 8pm.

Was similarly exhausted with DS but didn't have the sickness aspect b

Yes!

I know they say morning sickness can last all day - but i'm finding it realy weird to feel FINE all morning, even afternoon - and then start feeling realy queezy after dinner. Like i've eaten way too much - but i havn't...

Sometimes laying down in bed at night makes me feel a bit yuck as well.

Only been actualy sick twice this pg (10 weeks), while in the past with previous babes i've had clasic 'sick as a pig' in the morning symptoms.

I only had evening sickness both pregnancies. Used to start about 6ish, peak by 9-10pm when i'd have to crawl into bed wailing to hubby about how ill i felt. Good thing is you can crawl into bed whereas with morning sickness you have to get up, except if you work permanent nights like me - not good :(

Thanks for your response ladies... makes me feel like I'm not a total loon! I always start the day feeling slightly worried that I dont feel pregnant or sick at all, then end the day feeling grotty!! I have also woken in the middle of the night some nights feeling really nauseous too...pregnancy is so strange!

I am exactly the same at 9+3 - feel great when I wake up then by 11ish the nausea starts and just builds all day. I am a wreck by 4pm and on the sofa under a blanket by the time DH comes in and takes over bathtime etc at 6.30.

With DD I felt nauseous all day and all the way through the pregnancy, but it wasn't as debilitating as this. If it hasn't eased off by 12w (ish) I think I will try accupuncture as I'm finding it pretty hard to cope with at the moment.

I used to get this - I put it down to tiredness, as it would also be worse if I had not gotten enough sleep the night before.

I tried having a nice little nap after lunch with DC1 and it helped - unfortunately couldn't do that with my other DC!

Yes, I was the same. It does pass.

I am the same - nausea starts around 4pm and lasts until I go to bed, then I feel fine in the morning as long as I eat breakfast early. I think I was the same with DD too.

I'm really grateful it's this way round as it means I can get through work OK, although I'm only 9+4 and definitely showing already - ho hum!

Have had this both times. Felt fine in the morning as long as I don't do anything before eating breakfast then by tea time feel like hell. 2nd time round it was taking me ages to get to sleep at night as I felt so sick.

Exactly the same - 10 weeks, second time around. I hate feeling so horrendous when I'm going to bed.

I had exactly the same with both mine - it used to come on just as I finished work at 4pm. I had to eat a decent meal by 4 otherwise I couldn't face anything until the next morning - and the smell of DH cooking his tea was so awful I just used to go to bed at 7pm!

For me, a pattern eventually emerged where the nausea would start after lunch, and stick around until bedtime. I was glad I didn't feel too bad in the mornings, would have made getting to work really unpleasant.

I've been feeling like this too - I feel as bright as a button in the mornings, but come mid afternoon I feel pretty yucky... then by the evening I feel horrendous!

Yes I had this, and so did my mum. I think the loong stretch between lunch at 12 and dinner at 8 does it. Cooking dinner is really unpleasant. Smile

Yes, exactly the same as icravecheese! Evening sickness would start when i got home from work and by the time my lovely BF had spent ages cooking dinner I could barely eat a mouthful. Luckily, I am 13 weeks now so it's eased off a bit (still sometimes feel sick) and am starting to eat dinners again - yay!!

I'm also feel progressively worse as the day goes on. I start vomiting when I just open the fridge to see what to cook for dinner.

But the weirdest thing was last night, hubby's birthday and I booked us a table at a lovely Thai restaurant and while he fetched the babysitter I was hugging the toilet bowl wondering how I was going to get through the night.

So I have a cream cracker which immediately comes back up again. I really thought I was going to ruin his birthday meal - we go - I have a careful bite of his duck salad, mmm then order red thai beef curry and a roti - yum!! Have most of it and then a hot chocolate to finish it off - no sickness.

Really weird as I haven't had meat in a while - think I must try eating proper meals or something....

Yes, almost feels like it's gone now in the mornings (am 14 weeks). It's been worst at night since the start, I often go to bed with a sick bowl handy! But have not yet thrown up, just felt sick, thank god.
