Hi,

Due to deliver twins at Watforg General Hospital very soon and want to hve a private delivery.

Wondered if anyone could give me their experiences of any consultants they have used. (I have heard of Sherriden & Boret).

Also if you had any ideas of cost and are the Knutsford suite rooms covered in the £3,600 fee for delivery via private consultant?

Thanks

I found Boret to be extremely arrogant and unprofessional when I saw him a few years ago and would not see him again under any circumstances.Sheridan can be a little offhand but I liked him very much and found him to be a superb doctor. I also believe that the 2 lady consultants are very good too.

In answer to your question about costs. Sheridan charges £3600 for 2 ante natal appointments plus delivery for a singleton but I know that he does charge more for twins. A natural delivery or a C/S are the same price. If you are having NHS antenatal care at Watford he'll let you have all your bloods on the NHS but if your ante natal care is anywhere else he will need you to have some bloods privately so that he has a record of them.

You then need to pay for the Knutsford Suite separately. You have to pay for 4 nights upfront but they'll refund you any nights that you don't use once you leave. I think that I paid £1200 for The Knutsford and I also paid £350 for an epidural. I am fairly sure that we did the whole package for just under £5k but I only stayed in for one night and had my ante-natal care at Watford so didn't pay for any bloods.

Your babies will be NHS patients so the will be no charge if they need to go to SCBU.

Having had a previous experience of NHS delivery I can assure you that if you go down the private route you won't regret it for a moment.

I likd them both when I saw them during my last pregnancy and seen Mr Boret once during this one. I found Mr Boret very supportive and kind and I trust his judgement totally. Also he's one of the few doctors I've seen at the clinics who seem to genuinely be listening to what you say to them.

Had a really poor experience of Mr Boret - really would not recommend him. In addition to informing us just 1 week before delivery that he would be on holidays, he used forceps with cesarean, when I specifically said that I am having a cesarian to avoid those. Was very upset when saw a bruise on my daugher's little face. Very poor attitude, poor manners - really unhappy, regret going to him privately and also regret going to WGH. I heard lots of good things about Dr Sheridan though.
