Just found out I'm pregnant

And I'm terrified!! I already have a dd aged 16 months and we weren't planning on having another baby. I had preeclampsia with my first, she was 4 weeks early and only weighed 4lbs 5 and I guess I've always had it in my head that I could get this again but it could end up worse.
It sounds stupid and I feel so guilty for not feeling happy like I was when I found out I was pregnant with my dd but I can't help worrying.
Sorry for the long story, I don't really know what I expect people to say I just feel better being able to "tell" someone.

Ah, congratulations for a start! Its only natural for you to feel terrified after your last experience, but as they say, every pregnancy is different. Take care, and all the very best for a happy healthy pregnancy. x

Thank you, I know I'll feel better after I have a few days to get used to it. My oh is happy, he says our little girl will love a brother or sister and he's probably right.
Congrats to you too, when are you due?

Absolutely, it does take a few days to sink in. Hard work, but it'll be a good age gap between the two - my two oldest are similar at 26 months apart. I'm due 13th April - unlucky for some! Very unluckly infact 'cos it'll arrive slap bang in the middle of massive building work we're about to start on monday. I'm not sure about the reoccurance of pre-eclamsia in subsequent pregnancies - best bet is to ask midwife at your booking in appt.

I had the same. My dd1 was born at 31 weeks and was 3 lbs. Before I got pregnant again, I did pre-pregnancy counselling with a pre-eclampsia expert who put me on a trial of high dosage vitamins. I delivered at 37.5 weeks and went onto have a third. So get down to the GP, ask them to look at Professor Shennen's (St Thomas' Hosp) work and hopefully they will give you the dosages of Vitamin C and E and low dose aspirin, which have shown to be effective. You should also get extra scans and appointments. You could also contact APEC (action on Pre-Eclampsia) and they are very helpful in finding your local specialist.....

Keep in touch

Thank you both for your replies.

I've just found out I'm pregnant with number 3 which is completely unplanned and never wanted any more and spent the whole weekend crying!
But trust me! Having two will be the best thing you've ever done! My first two are 15 months apart and play so well together, I actually get to sit and relax in peace! When it sinks in you'll be over the moon! Good luck x x x

Thanks, and I hope you start to feel a bit better too. I think it is just the shock, everyone was always asking me when I'd have another and I was all "No more for me, I'm happy just having one" so I guess I just have to get used to it that I'll be having another!!

Coppernoodle...I could have written your post myself and feel exactly the same way. Not sure what to do. I found out yesterday and have been in a state of sheer panic as I tend to my 9 month old DD.

My little girl was 5 1/2 months when I fell pregnant with my second! To be honest I was good as my little girl slept a lot still in the day so did I! And she wasn't crawling so it wasn't to bad! And because she was that young when baby two arrived, she was never jelous! Buy about week three she forgot heat it was like to be on her own! Trust me, it'll be better in the long run! You'll be laughing when all your mates are going through this way after you! It's number three you gotta worry about! Just when you get your life back and you think your done then bang! It catches you off guard and really throws a spanner in the works! No other thing for it but the snipp!!!!!!!!!!! Mwhaaaaaa!!!!

Well just a wee update, I had the docs yest who gave me a prescription for vitamins and we spoke about the preeclampsia and she told me that I would be monitored more closely so I feel a bit better in that way. BUT I still do feel really scared when I think about having another baby, I want to feel happy about it but I still feel worried that I'm not going to cope with two!
Coppernoddle and Jules, how are you guys feeling now?

Dreadful! I'm seeing the doctor again Monday and hopefully seeing my endocrinologist soon too as I think most of this is to do with a condition they started testing me for just before I fell pregnant and had to stop so now true results yet! My mum has addison's disease as my little girl is borderline and they think I have it too! So think a lot of this is because of that, which is making my life hell at the mo, and doesn't seem to be any urgency to find out with the nhs! They wanted to admit me to hospital this week but said no as it was my girls 5th birthday yesterday so just trying to hold in there! I think it makes it harder because it wasn't planned but did see sone things in my short trip to sainsbury's today which ended in disaster (sick in sainsbury's) they have got a new baby clothing range, all the hungry caterpillar and there gorgeous! If you get the chance, check them out, then you'll start to feel exited! X x x chin up x x x

Sorry you're not feeling too great either, and that must be a worry for you esp if you don't feel like you're getting anywhere with the test results, hope everything works out ok, and hope your little girl enjoyed her bday.
I will def check out Sainsburys though because they sound cute :) xxx
