sharp groin pains at 20 weeks when getting up fom having been sat down for a while

I'm getting very sharp stabbing pains in my groin and lower abdomen when I'm getting up from being sat down for a while

It's only really happening at work (desk job) but is taking my breath away and making walking very uncomfortable, I seem to waddle for about 30 steps or so until it loosens up and hurts a little less

I've no real bump yet and it doesn't feel like weight strain IYKWIM, I've heard that your ligaments can soften in pregnancy and wondered if it could be something to do with that

I'm trying not to sit for too long without moving but it doesn't seem to be helping. I don't remember this last time but had a different job then when I was on my feet most of the day. I'm fit and active and have no major health problems

Is anyone else experiencing this and is it normal (and can I do anything about it?)

I get exactly the same thing and put it down to ligament pain.

Don't think there is anything you can do about it though, just one of those things!

how long did it last for you Vakant? I'm hoping it's just an adjustment thing and will ease off soon!

I am currently 23 weeks and I have exactly the same thing MadreInglese, have done for a couple of weeks. I feel like it takes me an age to actually stand up.

I seem to have very sore hips as well - don't know if that's all part of the same thing. I seem to be getting slower and more uncomfortable as the days go by so would love to know how long it lasts and if there is any remedy.

One of these days I swear I won't even be able to make it out of bed!

I had this in the early days (am now 34wks)...its ligament pain which is unfortunatley often worse after sitting down for long periods. I did a bit of yoga in the evenings and that helped immediately. Try and make sure you get up and take a break...walk around for a bit to stretch.

I'm 23 weeks and still get it on and off. Until late last week I hadn't had it for a couple of weeks, but Thurs/Fri it was back. I put it down to the fact that I had a bit of a growth spurt that week.

At least it's not just me!

I have really sore hips too, especially in the night, but have put it down to being a front sleeper who now has to sleep on her side - god knows what it will be like when I'm really large later on!

Just wondering - is the pain kind of like a heavy aching throbbing pain in your bits? I got this when standing after sitting down for a while from about 18 wks onwards and discovered I had VV (vulval varicosities) or varicose veins in your vulval area.

i found it eased off after walking around a bit. You can be suceptible if you have children fairly close together apparently. I didn't have the problem with DS1.

Just something else to consider- midwife might be able to tell you if it is or not.

no, it's quite sharp and stab-like and I have a 13 year gap between babies so hope it's not that! Thanks though, I will be mentioning it to my midwife just in case
