Is 40 years old to old to have a baby? I already have 3 children to my ex. My new boyfriend doesn't have any children..... He would like one but has accepted it if I don't want anymore ..

Not at all - had my second the day before my 41st. Fitness is more of a factor, plus if it is your first, but you have had 3 already. There is a thread for over 40s trying to conceive, and you would be considered a spring chicken.

Cannot do links, but go to topics, click on conception, and it is called Fabulous Feisty Forty somethings, about 10 down.

I had my third dc at 40. I think it was harder on my body than the first two but I found the early weeks/ months easier. And i am a better parent to dd than I was to my two boys at the same ages.

I bloody hope not. I'll be 39 and 11 months when this one arrives and I was thinking of trying to squeeze another one out after that...

Snap RJ Rabbit I am 41 and 17 weeks, and this is my first.

I am certainly not fit, and overweight (BMI of 31 when I conceived) but so far all good. Fingers crossed.

Off to find the 40s thread!

I had my DD at 40 (DS at 23), it's great. Much easier birth, much more relaxed parent too.

However you should be aware that your fertility does reduce the older you get - for me it was more difficult to get pregnant and I did have a number of miscarriages both before and after DD.

Having said that, I love being an older mum, I'm so much better at it, and DD is a joy.

I had DC 3 at the age of 42. So no 40 is young enough...

Certainly not! I had my last baby this year at 45. 40 is young in my book.

I had my first at 39 and my second at 40. Not to old at all.

I had my first at 41. Second child was born when I was 45 (though not to me).

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I'm 42 and 16 weeks with number 1. No idea if it's harder or not as I've never done it before! I wish you all the best whatever you decide.

I'm 42 and DC2 is due in 5 weeks. No1 arrived when I was 38. Finding these last few weeks more exhausting I think (can't really remember!) but more because I can no longer lie in in the morning and nap when I like as I've got school runs etc. to do.

Not at all. My Mom was 42 when she had my brother. She got extra monitoring throughout but my brother is now a happy healthy 21 yr old Grin
