Have I hurt my baby?

Hi my fridge broke down but I have a spare (long story) so I decided to switch them over. Hmm This included dragging it across my kitchen (tiled) floor.

Now im thinking it was a stupid idea and that i have hurt my baby. I know the likely hood is slim but I cant get out of my head.

Im 20 weeks and have felt it move since but I keep worring.Sad

You'll be fine! Any damage is likely to your own back not baby. But take it easy !!

You won't have hurt your baby, but I used to worry about stuff like this when I was pg too!

Agree with coraltoes, you'll hurt yourself before the baby!! But no more fridge dragging Wink

Baby will be fine, honestly.

The reason you're not supposed to move/carry heavy things is that relaxin can make your tendons stretch more than normal, so you could cause damage if you lift things too heavy.

This clearly only applies to first pregnancies though, otherwise you'd never be able to carry a toddler weighing 2 stone upstairs for bathtime :)
(translation - don't worry)

Try not to worry though that's easier said than done, I know. I think most of the risk in pregnancy of moving heavy stuff is more to do with yourself (softer ligaments, easier to strain something and hurt yourself I think) than the baby. The baby's well cushioned and protected in there - I think there's a risk from over-exercising from overheating/exhaustion, but a quick fridge move shouldn't have done harm. You have a good excuse now to get help with jobs like that though so use it next time and you won't need to worry Smile

i'm sure baby will be fine!! Like the others have said you'll hurt yourself before baby, if its any consolation i wake up every morning thinking i have squished the baby in my sleep as i tend to sleep in the recovery position and have hurt it ...quickly followed by prodding of said baby to wake the poor bugger up!!!
