Hoping for good news, but I'm so nervous as I've yet to feel any movement (first baby) and my bump is mostly fat and flabber, rather than solid. I just fear the worst. Anyone else got their scans coming up?

Hi caringforpod,

I have my 20 week scan on thurs and am really nervous too. Second baby, so been feeling movement on and off for a couple of weeks but can't help but fear the worst. Will be glad to see the baby and fingers crossed that everything is okay!
I think alot of people feel this way, its only natural! On one hand I'm really excited but on the other I'm sooooooo scared!
Good luck at your scan.

Thanks Milkybrew. I know I should be looking forward to this afternoon, but there's just this nagging feeling. For once, I really hope my husband will be able to say 'I told you so'!
Hope it all goes well on Thursday :)

I have mine tomorrow and i have no worries at all, just really excited! mainly because we want to know what we're having!

Should i be worrying? my downs blood test cam back 1 in 1000 (low risk) so kinda didn't think i had anything to be worried about.

im 20 + 1 today and have felt baby move since about 18 (ish) weeks, this is my first. Seems to be very lively

Hi chester21. I know how you feel and hope all our fears are unfounded. It's not exactly how we want to be feeling in the run up to Christmas.

My nuchal and blood test came back with a low downs risk, but...

I'm worried as I have felt nada, and know lots of other people who said they were feeling some sort of movement by now. I've ready about anterior placentas, which mean the baby's movements are 'muffled' by the placenta, but I have no idea if that applies to me.

Fingers crossed...

Lots of luck for your scan! Not everyone feels the bbay early on I was 18-19 weeks and only barely noitced because it happened while I was sitting very quiety.. and not what I expected it to feel like at all! Try relaxing for an hour and paying attention to your tummy.. only a very small bublly or fluttery feeling briefly

Caringforpod, I had my 20 week scan a couple of weeks ago and really worried about it as I wasn't feeling any movement either. It was very reasurring to see the baby moving even though I couldn't feel it. I'm 23 weeks now and feel movement all the time now so just because you can't feel movement doesn't necessarily mean there's anything wrong.

Best of luck with your scan :)

Thanks for your words of encouragement theevildead2 and lucieloo. It makes me feel a bit better that others have/had the same worries. Wishing you all the best for your pregnancies x

I'm sure it will be fine ! Everyone's different - and with a first baby you don't really know what you are trying to feel. My movements were like tiny bubbles at first (about 19 or 20 weeks) - or someone running the tips of their fingers very gently over your stomach - blink and you would have missed it. Try not to worry - 20 week scan will be lovely x

I've got my 20 week scan on Friday and it's my 4th baby. I'm just as nervous this time round as I was first time round. I can feel movement but not all the time (mainly evenings.) With my first, I hadn't felt any movements until long after the 20 week scan. It's because you have strong stomach muscles still in your first pregnancy and none whatsoever in your 4th! Goodluck!

Just to let you all know that the scan was a success! The baby was wriggling around and doing just fine :) And I do have an anterior placenta, which may explain why I haven't felt movement yet. Thanks again for all your comments, really appreciated.

Hi CaringforPod

Just to say congratulations, and I too have an anterior placenta. Am 28 weeks with my first baby and although I have had days where I have had "vibrations" in my belly, it is only the last few days that I have REALLY been feeling the baby move a lot. When I had my 20 wk scan I was surprised at how much he was moving about as I hadnt been able to feel much at all. I had a 4d scan two weeks ago and again he was moving a lot. I actually had to use a doppler once a week to check he was still all ok in there.

It is very reassuring now though I can feel him as much as I do, and it is somewhat weird because sometimes it feels like I am on a rollercoaster!

Hi mojo1981
Glad you had a good scan! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! My scan is tomorrow but unfortunately won't find out if it's a boy or girl as my hospital won't tell me!

I had my 20 week scan today and also have an anterior placenta! I shall now not worry if I feel kicking a little later. Very exciting - little boy! Which is fab as my sister just had a little boy so now we're hoping they'll be best mates. Congrats/good luck everyone!
