Hi,
I have just found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant - I am excited but terrified Shock! It is my first pregnancy and it seems like there is a whole new world to get my head round. Anyone else in the same boat?!

Hi, I am also 5-6 weeks pregnant and its my first time also. Im pleased and im pretty sure underneath everything im excited, but right now, fear is the overwhelming emotion. No idea why, I know women go through this all the time and im no different to all the others, but this is ME and its a scary prospect!! Congratulations by the way :-)

Congratulations to you as well! I know what you mean. I keep thinking that this is totally normal and people do it all the time, but you're right - I've never done it yet! I keep swinging from feeling delighted and excited, to feeling really scared within about a minute. It doesn't feel real yet, I'm trying to book an appointment with my GP to find out everything that I need to do (as I said, totally different world!) but think they are shut because of the snow. Its a bit overwhelming and I don't feel I can tell anyone yet (except my partner and sister) as it is very early days. How exciting/terifying/fabulous/scarey!!

Dont worry too much about the doctors appointment, I saw my GP last week,i was in there for about 2 minutes, he congratulated me, told me to take folic acid and told me to book to see the midwife. Thats it. I think 5 weeks is really early, I know you feel, like i did, that its really important to get into the medical appointments, but the medical people dont seem to share our urgency! I would sit, relax and wait for the snow to clear :-) No rush. I have my first midwife appointment on wednesday, i think she's going to think its too early too!!

Good advice, its hard not to try and get all the info that you can! My head is spinning with it all, I've not been able to get to work today because of the weather and instead have spent hours on the internet looking stuff up! I think I would have been distracted at work anyway, I only found out on Friday.
Hope things go ok on wed
