Right, when does the mythical nesting instinct kick in?

I mean, I've got to the stage of hating everything and noticing piles of crap and jobs that need doing, BUT haven't got the energy to do anything about it!
I wish I had a house elf.

A week before DS2 was born, I had an urge to hoover, and did so for about 5 hours a day! Quite something, when you consider that our house is tiny, and hoovering for half an hour is fairly thorough!
I also cleaned out all the kitchen cupboards, and bleached the front of them too. In fact, that was the last time the cupboards have ever been emptied (5 years ago)
I didn't go into labour though.

DH is hoping this happens agin this time, as the house could do with a really good clean!

DH was waiting for the nesting to kick in, 6 years later he's still waiting!

Pardon my French but fuck nesting. I'm all about hibernating.

I never had the nesting instinct. I was looking forward to it too, our house always needs cleaning!

Unless you mean the sort of nesting where you sit on the sofa surrounded by an enormous nest of cushions to support your burgeoning bump, with the TV remote, chocolate and a cup of tea to hand, then never. If you ^are6 talking about the former, ooooh, from about 8 weeks Grin

That's lucky, not getting it! Mine kicked in around 35 weeks last time. I did so much cleaning that I irritated myself as I was tired and yet couldn't stand a single speck of dust or strand of pet hair so kept on cleaning. Constantly on my hands and knees cleaning I'm surprised I didn't have a natural birth in the end. I even got annoyed if someone walked into the house because that meant I had to hoover and mop again.

This time round I'm definitely hoping for the sort of nesting Poledra mentioned. :)

I'm 39+5. Spent Tuesday night in tears at the number of cobwebs in the house, having obsessively cleaned the bathroom and spent the next 24 hours scrubbing every available surface wailing that the baby wouldn't want to come out until the house was perfect.

Wore off yesterday, am back to watching crap TV and eating biscuits.

I had it in fits and starts. DH decided at 26 weeks, when I decided I had to scrub all our skirting boards on a Sunday morning that I was either nesting or mental... Grin

I had the sort of nesting whereby I noticed the dirt and insisted that DH cleaned it.

No nesting for me either - and ds1 didn't arrive until 42+5!

DS2 arrived bang on time - no nesting with him either.

The house ticks over, 'tis neither spotless nor filthy but a good clean wouldn't have gone amiss either time!

When I was pregnant with my daughter, the nesting thing was only theoretical to me. I kept thinking "I really ought to tidy" but simply couldn't be arsed

God knows!!!!!! It didn't kick in when I was pregnant with DD (3.6) but I'm hoping it will kick in this time (I'm 27 weeks) as the house could do with a good clean and sort out!

I've been doing the kind of nesting that Poledra talks about for years! Grin
